Database Administrator - SQL Servers

Job Description Summary:
The Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for managing and maintaining both production and non-production databases within a complex environment. This role involves establishing standards for physical data storage, maintenance, access, and security administration. The DBA will handle diverse assignments that often require interpretation and independent decision-making to determine the best course of action.
Detailed Responsibilities
- Assist in performing backups and recovery on Database Management Systems under supervision.
- Help configure database parameters and prototype designs against logical data models under guidance.
- Support multiple services and databases of medium complexity with supervision, ensuring control, integrity, and accessibility of the data.
- Assist in responding to requests from other teams, learning to influence the department’s strategy through technical support for project components.
- Help maintain the health of databases and implement change tickets under supervision.
- Interact with internal teams such as Developers, Data Engineers, Product Owners, providing support on database changes and learning best practices.
- Participate in an on-call rotation schedule under mentorship to ensure continuous support.
- Gain experience in a big job scheduling environment—active batch.
- Support engagements with SQL databases and learn through involvement in the implementation of contracts.
- Work in agile environments, supporting data teams and data warehouse systems under guidance.
- Learn and contribute to the modernization and optimization of SQL servers.

On-Call Rotation Requirement:
- All team members participate in the on-call rotation, which consists of five individuals.
- Be available for after-hours support and weekend work during assigned on-call weeks. Spanning one week at a time (Monday to Monday).
- Coverage during holidays is required; will be offset with an additional day off for working on a holiday.
- During regular business hours, team members will collaborate to ensure project milestones are met.
- Manage and resolve issues that arise during on-call periods in a timely manner.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field is preferred or an equivalent technical training.
- 2-5 years of relevant work experience
- 2 or more years of experience with SQL servers
