The Member Engagement and Experience Data Science and Engineering team is at the forefront of driving innovations in Netflixâs core product experience within our streaming and new business domains through data. The team collaborates extensively with Product and Engineering teams to identify, incubate and enable product innovations leveraging robust measurement techniques (analytics, experimentation, causal inference, modeling) and scalable tooling.Â
As an L6 Data Scientist, youâll be at the exciting intersection of Netflixâs core member experience and the growing areas of Live, Games, and Ads. You will shape our strategy for attributing and valuing impressions in the Product, informing longer-term business and technical strategy for member-facing innovation.
In this role, you will:
Shape the development of a model to better quantify the business value of an impression, to inform robust tradeoffs across lines of business inquiry
Connect the dots across business areas and inform how we create an optimal member experience
Develop experimentation and measurement frameworks to increase the velocity of investments and aid complex decision-making.
Act as a mentor to a stunning team of data scientists and analytics engineers
Facilitate ownership and accountability by ensuring that the team is producing trustworthy and high-quality outputs that influence the decisions and direction of member experienceÂ
To be successful in this role, you have:
Exceptional systems thinking, with the ability to understand complex interdependencies across business areas and their impact on the member experience
Strong thought partnership, adept at building trust and credibility with stakeholders by demonstrating clarity, sound judgment, and a member-centric perspective
Outstanding communication skills, capable of bridging technical and non-technical audiences and influencing partners with clear insights, data-driven recommendations, and compelling narratives
Experience with algorithms as a product, including practical applications like recommendation systems, ranking algorithms, or personalization strategies
Exceptional depth in causal inference and machine learning
Proactive and self-directed problem-solving, with the ability to independently drive projects from ideation to execution
Mentorship and leadership skills, fostering growth and accountability within a team while ensuring the delivery of high-quality, trustworthy outputs
