Who We're Looking For

Marketbridge is looking for a Data Science Solutions Engineer to support technology innovation and application development. You’ll work on our marketing effectiveness platform.

The Data Science Solutions Engineer role combines software engineering and data science skills. The ideal candidate loves data munging, visualization, and modelling—but then goes the extra mile to turn analysis into software via writing packages, building apps, and using version control systems like Git and Github. A typical task would be taking a complex modelling task and turning it into functions and methods that then fold into a software application.

This role is not a “wait for perfect requirements” software engineering role. This person will fully understand the data science and statistics required to make a feature happen and will implement it.

Responsibilities:
Application Development: Join an existing team of developers working to enhance and maintain our proprietary platform used for measuring and visualizing marketing effectiveness models

Software Packages: Contribute to and author internal R packages and other software repositories used to abstract platform operations and data science processes

Technology/Infrastructure: Understand, improve, and become an expert in our analytics and data science technology stack including Microsoft Azure, Databricks, Posit enterprise software, Linux and other open-source projects/technologies

Process/Automation: Build robust and efficient processes for tasks such as platform services, data movement, provisioning technology, quality control, API calls, etc., and when applicable automate using tools like Terraform, Webhooks, Runbooks, Job Orchestration, and Cron

Documentation and Training: Create clear and concise documentation for technology architecture and process flow using tools like Markdown, Wikis and PowerPoint, and train others by way of knowledge shares, presentations, etc.

Qualifications:
We are looking for an experienced, motivated individual who is eager to contribute, innovate, lead, and own data science technology solutions.

  • Understands regression modelling and machine learning techniques

  • Has at least 5 years of relevant analytics/data science experience with a focus on statistical computing and engineering

  • Has advanced R programming skills including the use of data manipulation packages (e.g., dplyr), data visualization packages (e.g., plotly), and Shiny application development

  • Can write reusable parameterized functions and/or develop R packages

  • Understands relational databases, has experience using SQL, and is comfortable writing and executing queries, building tables/views, etc.

  • Has experience using other programming languages and related technologies such as Python, Databricks, and HTML/CSS/JS

  • Has a solid understanding of Git/GitHub (command line tools, branching, merging, etc.)

  • Is comfortable using Linux, running Bash commands, and writing/executing shell scripts

  • Understand basic cloud infrastructure concepts (servers, applications, security, etc.)

  • Can balance multiple projects at one time, under tight deadlines

  • Is extremely conscientious, with a strong attention to detail

  • Is familiar with marketing analytics including marketing mix models

  • Has a strong educational background in applied mathematics/statistics
