A Brief Overview
The Data Governance Manager is an individual contributor role that will be responsible for managing and ensuring the quality, integrity, and security of the organization's data assets. This role involves developing and implementing data governance policies, procedures, and working closely with various stakeholders to ensure data is legal, well-organized, safe, accessible, and valuable. This role will also monitor and report on the performance and compliance of our data governance program.

What you will do

  • Policy Development & Implementation
  • Develop and implement data governance policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance frameworks and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain data dictionaries, data catalogs, and metadata management.
  • Collaboration & Communication
  • Collaborate with business units, IT, and other stakeholders to ensure data governance initiatives align with business objectives.
  • Promote data governance awareness and best practices across the organization.
  • Facilitate cross-functional team meetings to discuss and resolve data governance issues.
  • Risk Management
  • Identify data-related risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure data governance practices support data privacy and security requirements.
  • Documentation & Training
  • Document data governance processes, standards, and decisions.
  • Provide training and guidance on data governance to team members and stakeholders.
  • Relationships & Stewardship
  • Develop and manage the relationships with Business Data Owners and Stewards
  • Facilitate Governance Councils
  • Partner with other Data & Analytics roles to ensure alignment to stewardship needs
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies and standards

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Management, Computer Science, or a related field. 

Experience Qualifications

  • Typically 8+ years of experience in data governance, data quality, or a related field 
  • Experience working with domain structures, conceptual logic and physical 

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, data quality management, and regulatory requirements. 
  • Solid experience working with industry standards, regulations, and guidelines in database warehousing and other relevant systems 
  • Familiarity with data privacy laws and regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA). 
  • Experience in a specific industry (e.g., finance, healthcare, HR) with relevant regulatory knowledge. 
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills. 
  • Experience with data governance and quality tools and technologies. 
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, managing multiple priorities and delivering high-quality results within deadlines 

Licenses and Certifications

  • Certification in data governance or data quality (e.g., CDMP, DGSP) a plus

The salary range for this role is $76,000 to $182,400. The candidate’s final salary offer will be based on the candidate’s skills, education, work location and experience.

A candidate’s compensation may also include bonuses consistent with TriNet’s corporate bonus plan.
