TL;DR Kharon is seeking a full-time, US-based Data Engineer based within commuting distance to one of our hub locations in LA, Denver, Washington DC or NYC.


Responsibilities: 

  • Helping build large-scale distributed data processing systems and data lakes, while optimizing for both computational and storage efficiency on AWS Databricks.

  • Creating data pipelines and overall workflow orchestration to pull data from a diverse set of data sources into the Kharon Data Lake.

  • Working with product and business teams to define novel and critical metrics for the business, and building and maintaining data aggregates to power these metrics.

  • Building systems to track, monitor and validate the quality of data coming into or going out of Kharon Data Lake.

  • Taking full responsibilities for the development, deployment, adoption monitoring and maintenance of the data systems and services you build.

  • Collaborating with Machine learning / Deep learning researchers and backend engineers to implement scalable solutions to solve complex problems.


Qualifications: 

  • 2+ years of experience, not including internships, as a software engineer or a data engineer with a strong passion to learn.

  • BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience in related fields.

  • SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases including schema design, access patterns, query performance optimization, etc

  • Experience in one or more of the following languages: Python, Scala, Golang, Java, C++,  NodeJS, etc.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.


Bonus if you also have:

  • Experience with big data technologies like Spark, Delta, Databricks.

  • Experience with data modelling for data warehousing technologies like Snowflake, Redshift or Big Query.

  • Experience working with or data modelling for graph databases like Neo4J, Neptune, etc

  • Understanding of elasticsearch data and query modelling is a big plus.

  • Container-based deployment experience using Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Experience with stream-processing systems: Storm, Spark-Streaming, Flink, etc.

  • Experience with DevOps methodologies and tools for automating and monitoring systems.

The base salary range at Kharon is set between $110,000 and $160,000 depending upon experience. Please note that this figure does not necessarily include potential bonuses, commissions, benefits, or equity that may be part of the overall compensation package.
