What will you be doing as a Data Analyst -

  • Create regular financial reports (month-end financial statements, board presentations, commission calculations, and performance analysis) to provide actionable insights into financial health and performance.
  • Provide insights and detailed commentary on financial performance in comparison to budget, forecasts, and previous years, highlighting key variances or trends.
  • Develop visually engaging financial data presentations that are clear and easily interpreted by stakeholders.
  • Support the finance team with budget data preparation and analysis, ensuring accurate and timely forecasts.
  • Respond to ad-hoc data requests from the finance team and wider business, creating dashboards and reports for business stakeholders as needed.
  • Prepare high-quality datasets for financial KPI calculation by querying source databases, performing data cleansing and validation.
  • Use SQL to extract, transform, and load data from various sources (e.g., financial systems, databases) into clean, accurate datasets.
  • Document internal processes and business logic for financial data preparation and KPI calculations, ensuring they remain current as the business evolves.
  • Take an active role in the ongoing development of our data platform, collaborating closely with the Data Team on the build.
  • Assist in extending our Looker implementation, ensuring stakeholders have access to user-friendly, self-service data through well-designed explores and dashboards.
  • Automate financial reporting processes, reducing reliance on manual Excel-based tasks by replacing them with automated solutions in Looker, enabling more streamlined and accurate reporting

What are we looking for?

  • Minimum of 3 years experience working in a Data Analytics role
  • Strong SQL skills with proven experience querying and manipulating data from databases (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL, Snowflake).
  • Experience using modern data tools such as Power BI, Looker, or Tableau to create compelling reports and dashboards for stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and present complex data in a clear and actionable way to stakeholders.
  • Able to operate independently with minimal supervision, prioritising and handling ad-hoc data analysis requests and queries efficiently.
  • Excellent attention to detail, particularly in ensuring the quality and accuracy of data and reports.
  • Experience in preparing financial reporting using data, including month-end closing processes, budget tracking, and variance analysis.
  • Able to gather requirements from stakeholders and translate them into effective reports and insights.
  • Track record of identifying and highlighting key insights, signals, and trends deep within the underlying data.
  • Ability to create dashboards, reports, analyses, and visualisations that tell a meaningful story to stakeholders.
