Cybersecurity Intern - Summer 2025:

As a Cybersecurity Intern, you will collaborate with a seasoned, cross-disciplinary team to develop, test, and implement cybersecurity solutions that protect our enterprise systems, networks, and data globally. You’ll gain hands-on experience in threat detection, incident response, vulnerability assessments, and cloud security—particularly within AWS environments. PlanetArt internships are full-time positions, and interns should expect to work Monday-Friday, up to 40 hours per week typically between 8am-5pm. Specific team norms around working hours will be communicated by your manager. Interns should not have conflicts such as classes or other employment during the PlanetArt workday. Applicants should have a minimum of one quarter/semester/trimester remaining in their studies after their internship concludes. Key job responsibilities:

  • Threat Monitoring & Analysis: Assist in monitoring network traffic, logs, and security alerts using industry-standard tools to identify potential threats and suspicious activities.
  • Security Solutions Development: Help design, develop, test, and implement cybersecurity measures—including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption protocols—to protect critical assets.
  • Vulnerability Assessment: Collaborate with team members to perform security assessments and penetration testing, identifying vulnerabilities and recommending remediation strategies.
  • Incident Response Support: Contribute to incident response efforts by documenting security incidents, supporting root cause analyses, and assisting in the implementation of recovery plans.
  • Cloud Security: Leverage cloud platforms—particularly AWS—to deploy secure applications and manage access controls, with a focus on integrating AWS security best practices.
  • Documentation & Communication: Develop and maintain documentation for cybersecurity policies, procedures, and incident response plans. Clearly communicate findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Research & Continuous Learning: Stay current with emerging cybersecurity trends, threat intelligence, and evolving security technologies.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master's or Doctorate Degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, with a expected graduation conferral date October 2025 – December 2028.
  • Able to work up to 40 hours a week throughout the course of a 10 to 12-week summer internship between May through September 2025.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA. 
  • Foundational knowledge of cybersecurity principles, including network security, risk management, threat intelligence, and encryption techniques.
  • Familiarity with security monitoring tools, incident response frameworks, and vulnerability assessment methodologies.
  • AWS Cloud Experience: Experience with AWS (e.g., AWS Security Hub, GuardDuty, IAM) and an understanding of cloud security best practices is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in one or more scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and exposure to SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) systems is a plus.
  • Desire to learn processes and ability to work independently and in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrates initiative, organizational and time management skills. Strong interpersonal, written, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team environment.

Benefits

Compensation:
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position is $19.00 an hour.

  • This is a hybrid position; employees are expected to be in the office three days per week (Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday) with the option of working remotely two days (Wednesday and Friday).
