About the role
- As the Curriculum Lead for Heggerty’s Literacy/ELA product portfolio, you are relied on to leverage your ELA and literacy expertise to define, ideate, create, and manage content development for a variety of engaging K-5 ELA foundational skills print and digital products.
- In this position, you will play a critical role in partnering with Product Management, Literacy Specialists, Editorial, and other Curriculum Leads to expand our current offerings to provide a K-5 solution for instruction in Foundational Skills that incorporates pedagogy and best practices in literacy instruction with alignment to state and national standards, specifically with instruction in phonemic awareness, phonics and word study, fluency, assessment, and intervention instruction. The Curriculum Lead is accountable for curriculum design and quality throughout the entire product development process, and over the entire product lifecycle.
A solid foundation in best practices for designing and creating content for ELA materials is required. In addition to strong people management, writing, and editorial skills, a leading candidate will have equally strong project management and problem solving skills and is extremely detail oriented. A true passion for literacy is essential!
What you'll do
Demonstrate deep knowledge of K-5 Literacy/ELA pedagogical trends, research, and issues;
Conceptualize and plan for all aspects of large-scale products for K-5 Literacy/ELA curricula (including scope and sequence, components, pedagogical approach, and instructional design);
Hire and manage the work of contributors - such as writers, editors, consultants, and vendors - ensuring they receive appropriate training, guidance, and quality oversight.
Guide and support the development of multiple ongoing, high-priority projects simultaneously;
Coordinate with cross-functional groups to establish workflows and maintain communication about project schedules and status;
Develop quality guidelines and best practices procedures;
Provide quality assurance oversight of products and curriculum;
Work with the VP of Product to create and manage budgets and forecasts for external development costs;
Support internal product training for customer-facing teams;
Plan and execute product revisions and reprints to maintain product quality and customer satisfaction over the entire life of the product
