Job Description:

Counsel

Parsons is looking for Counsel to support the Chief Litigation counsel with both claims and litigation.  In this role you will get to evaluate issues encountered during engineering, technology or construction projects including, but not limited to, insured and uninsured claims related to professional liability, general liability, environmental, rectification, builder’s risk, project specific insurance, subcontractor/owner disputes, non-payment, bid protests and delays/impacts. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of litigation and/or claims management legal experience related to the engineering, technology or construction industries.  

While this is primarily a remote position, the preferred candidate will be from Boston or on the east coast.  Minimal travel anticipated.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Supports Claims and Litigation Counsel in the execution of strategic defense development and settlement of claims including corresponding with local defense counsel, insurance reporting, budget management and exposure evaluations

• Responds to subpoenas and discovery requests as needed

• Reviews and analyzes letters, emails, correspondence, contracts and reports from outside counsel, experts, project representatives and is able to succinctly summarize and identify areas of additional inquiry and exposure

• Assists in legal documentation and letter drafting including joint defense/common interest agreements, negotiated consultant/expert retention agreements, tender letters, settlement agreements, claim response letters and insurer inquiries

• Analyzes legal issues arising on a project at the request of Claims and Litigation Counsel

• Runs reports of ongoing legal issues and evaluates as requested

• Contributes to development of legal education presentations to be given to various Business Units

What Required Skills You’ll Bring:

• Juris Doctorate (JD) required

• Background in engineering, technology or construction legal field required

• Minimum 5 + years of related work experience 

• Requires a comprehensive knowledge of claims management

• Strong written and oral communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, keen organizational ability and follow through

What Desired Skills You’ll Bring:

• Working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Salary Range: 

$126,600.00 - $227,900.00
