Collins Aerospace is looking for a Senior Cost Estimator who will be responsible for generating recurring and non-recurring part cost estimates in support of new business proposals, should-cost creation in support of supplier negotiations, customer change-order pricing, and value engineering projects. The candidate will also participate in continuous improvement activities and the creation of new estimating tools.

This position is within the Aerostructures Finance Cost Estimating, Pricing, and Strategy Team, which has a strong commitment to continuously improving our culture and creating a team building environment.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Development of recurring part cost estimates in support of new business proposals
  • Development of supplier part should-costs for internal Supply Chain organization
  • Evaluate customer change orders and repairs pricing
  • Utilize PLM tools & CAD modeling software for estimation purposes
  • Estimate material, labor, & overhead rates for product OE and development cost estimation
  • Utilize learning curves in cost estimation
  • Evaluate cost impacts of common aerospace manufacturing processes

Basic Qualifications

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of common manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of SAP / ERP systems.
  • Experience with MS PowerPoint.
  • Experience with MS Excel Pivot Tables and lookups.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in cost estimation and/or business case development
  • Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering background
  • Extensive knowledge of SAP / ERP systems
  • Experience with Business Warehouse, Team Center & Catia V5
  • Knowledge of Excel, specifically macros and Visual Basic
  • Knowledge/experience with various aerospace manufacturing processes
  • Working knowledge of statistical regression analysis
  • Ability to create, analyze, and improve cost estimating tools and methods
  • Ability to communicate and present cost data information to leadership
  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma and/or other continuous improvement tools
  • Experience in part production cycle times, material utilization and Bill of Materials (BOM) and routings
  • Familiarity with reading of engineering drawings and viewing models

Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home).  An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
