Job Description:

As a Cost of Sales Analyst, you will be responsible for analyzing and monitoring the costs directly associated with selling our products and services. You will work closely with various departments such as sales, finance, and product operations to gather data, identify trends, and make recommendations to improve cost efficiencies and profitability.

What you will be responsible for:

•  Analyzing expenses and cost transactions associated with sales of services and product including workforce, support services and overhead; ensuring the transactions are recorded accurately and assigned to the appropriate cost centers and products. 
• Providing detailed financial analysis and reports on expenses including breakdowns in product costs, forecasts for remaining expenses and opportunities to increase efficiency. 
• Collecting, organizing, and maintaining accurate data related to sales costs. Generating regular reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to key stakeholders.
• Assisting in the development of cost budgets and forecasts, and regularly monitoring performance against these targets.
• Conducting market research as needed to recommend changes to pricing or business models. 
• Preparing periodic cost reconciliation reports tracking data such as workforce and service costs. 
• Developing and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) related to sales costs, providing insights into performance trends and areas for improvement.
• Conducting ad hoc analysis and special projects as requested by management to support strategic decision-making. 
• Collaborating with sales, finance, operations, and other departments to understand cost drivers and implement cost-saving initiatives.

What you will bring to the role:

• Proven experience in cost analysis, preferably in a software service environment.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and communicate insights effectively.
• Experience in creating dashboards, utilizing data analysis tools such as R or Python.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work independently with strong organizational skills, including effective time management and prioritization of competing demands and multiple deadlines.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on data accuracy and integrity.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel including advanced formula building, pivot tables, and data modeling.
• Knowledge of SQL or other data manipulation tools is a plus.

The targeted hiring base pay range for this position is between $63,750 and $85,000 annually. DTN is a pay for performance organization, which means there is the opportunity to advance your compensation with performance over time. The actual base pay offered for this position will be dependent upon many factors, including but not limited to: prior work experiences, training/education, transferable skills, business needs, internal equity and applicable laws. The targeted hiring base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for market competitive variable pay and benefits.
