Corporate Controller

SkySafe is looking for an experienced Corporate Controller to own Global accounting, tax, audit and related compliance.  Reporting to the CFO the ideal candidate will possess understanding of SaaS business models, hardware manufacturing and ERPs. We are looking for a strong leader with excellent know-how to own and lead a core function and partner cross-functionally with key stakeholders across the business as we prepare for our next phase of exponential growth.

Responsibilities:

As we continue our international expansion this role will drive the structure, rollout, and ongoing oversight from a financial reporting perspective.  

• Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate US and International GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
• Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; and provide budget to actual variance reporting
• Maintain internal control and safeguards for SaaS sales results, revenue reporting, accruals, and cash managementRevenue recognition: serve as the subject matter expert for revenue recognition and technical accounting matters
• Key partner to the CFO in the annual budgeting and planning process
• Own the planning, selection and implementation of a new global ERPCoordinate all annual audits including Financial and 401k

Requirements:

• 10+ years of relevant experience including at least 5+ years as Corporate Controller, CPA required
• Experience with a fast-growing venture-backed company, navigating significant growth in SaaS sales is preferred
• Strong technical accounting expertise and understanding of GAAP Strong understanding of SaaS Bookings based business model and operating metricsExperience with implementing a new ERP at a global Company
• Advanced knowledge of excel/google sheets/Quickbooks/Netsuite
• Construction accounting experience preferred
• People leadership, mentorship and development
• This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export laws. Qualifications

• 10 plus years of relevant experience, including 5 as a Corporate Controller
• CPA required
• Experience with a fast-growing venture-backed company, navigating significant growth in SaaS sales is preferred
• Strong technical accounting expertise and understanding of GAAP
• Effective people leadership, mentorship and development skills
• Problem solver, detail oriented, multi-tasker who can roll up their sleeves
• Advanced knowledge of Quickbooks/Netsuite (this is a must have)
• Experience with Inventory Accounting
• Familiarity with the crypto industry (nice to have)

System Proficiency:  

• Salesforce, Bill.com and Carta, Quickbooks, Netsuite

Within 1 month, you’ll:  

• Get up to speed on our business, vision and team
• Gain an understanding about how your role fits into Skysafe broader organization
• Connect with the internal team as well as bankers, payroll contacts, tax preparers, insurance broker, etc.
• Become familiar with the company structure, the subsidiary functions and the daily/weekly/monthly duties
• Complete a financial close cycle
• Review our close process and understand the sources of information
• Review payroll
• Prepare monthly financial reporting packages as required for bankers/investors

Within 3 months, you’ll:  

• Formulated and socialized a plan to migrate from Quickbooks to Netsuite 
• Complete monthly close with review meeting by business day 8
• Prepare or review property tax, VAT/Sales/GST returns
• Become proficient in navigating our business tools
• Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate US and International GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
• Assume primary responsibility for global income tax
• Evaluate and prepare any technical accounting treatment/calculations for revenue, leases, warrant valuations, etc.

Within 6 months, you’ll:  

• Be proficient in utilizing NetSuite, Carta, Salesforce to develop/improve reporting
• Review internal controls to identify potential areas of weakness with an eye to implementing stronger controls while promoting operational efficiency
• Lead the accounting and hardware team to finesse the purchasing, manufacturing and inventory processes
• Assist the CFO with financial planning and budgeting
• Monitor any geographic expansion to identify any nexus risk for taxes

Within 12 months, you’ll:  

• Master and streamline the financial reporting process
• Provide management with insightful reporting
• Assist the CFO or team with any ad hoc projects
• Close the year and prepare for the 2026 audit, prepare the financials and notes
• Manage the global insurance program to ensure that all global assets and risks are covered while identifying any potential cost savings
