Michael Baker International seeks a passionate and experienced Corporate BIM/VDC Manager to join the Engineering and Design Technologies’ Emerging Technologies and Innovation team. This advanced professional will lead efforts to shape the future of our bridge, highway and rail project delivery by harnessing the latest technologies and elevating the capabilities and performance of our transportation teams.  The Corporate BIM/VDC Manager will lead projects to integrate, automate, and enhance BIM and VDC applications and workflows and contribute to the success of delivering exceptional AEC projects and technology solutions. 

The successful candidate will specialize in bridge and highway BIM workflows, technology, project execution, and innovation and will be responsible for the strategic BIM and VDC initiatives for Michael Baker’s bridge, highway and rail projects. They will collaborate with national and regional practice leadership, project and technical managers, and other BIM/VDC managers and coordinators to drive efficiency, accuracy, and innovation in our transportation infrastructure’s planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operations.

Leadership & Strategy:  

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive BIM/VDC strategy specifically tailored to bridge and highway projects, considering best practices, industry standards, and emerging technologies. 
  • Design and optimize BIM/VDC workflows for bridge and highway projects, ensuring seamless collaboration between design teams, contractors, and stakeholders.  Continuously review and refine workflows to improve efficiency and project outcomes. 
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend BIM/VDC technologies and tools suitable for bridge and highway projects.  Oversee the implementation and integration of BIM/VDC software, hardware, and systems across the National Bridge, Highway, and Rail projects.  
  • Provide technical guidance and support to project teams for the successful execution of BIM/VDC processes throughout the project lifecycle.  Ensure adherence to quality standards. 
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs to educate project teams on bridge, highway and rail BIM/VDC workflows, tools, and best practices.  Foster a culture of continuous learning and knowledge-sharing throughout the organization.  
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among multidisciplinary teams, including planners, architects, engineers, contractors and external stakeholders.  Coordinate with practice and project leadership to ensure seamless integration of BIM/VDC processes into overall project management.   
  • Implement quality assurance measures to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance within industry standards in BIM/VDC deliverables.  Conduct regular audits and reviews to identify and rectify any issues or deviations.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, advancements, and emerging technologies related to bridge, rail and highway BIM/VDC.  Identify opportunities for innovation and propose new solutions to enhance project outcomes and efficiencies.   

Required Project Skills and Experience:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. 
  • 10 years’ experience in a BIM-related position
  • 5 years leading BIM/VDC project teams through large, complex, multi-year projects
  • ISO19650 Certification, or the ability to obtain within 1 year is a plus
  • Terrestrial and aerial reality capture experience to support 
  • In-depth knowledge of BIM/VDC workflows, processes, and best practices
  • Proficiency in industry-leading BIM/VDC software (Bentley OpenRoads, OpenBridge, SYNCHRO; Autodesk Civil3D, Infraworks; ALLPLAN, AASHTOWare, Transoft Applications, VISSIM, Bluebeam Revu, etc.), certification a plus
  • Strong understanding of bridge and highway design, construction, and maintenance processes.  Experience with Design-Build project delivery a plus. 
  • Experience in leading and managing the digital delivery of multidisciplinary teams and projects 
  • Experience in creating AR/VR experiences with Meta Quest or Hololens products is a plus   
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels. 
  • Proven track record of implementing innovative BIM/VDC solutions and drive process improvements

Compensation

The approximate compensation range for this position is $100,000 to $160,000.  This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.  Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
