Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled corporate attorney with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the property and casualty (P&C) insurance industry. The ideal candidate will have a proven background working with insurance brokers, carriers, regulatory agencies, or in insurance defense. This role requires deep expertise in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide variety of agreements, as well as a strong understanding of brokerage services, claims management, risk management, insurance carriers, and related regulatory matters.
The successful candidate will play a key role in servicing diverse business units, each specializing in different areas of client risk. Agreements will vary in complexity, ranging from service agreements and non-disclosure agreements to contracts with carriers and third-party intermediaries. This position requires the ability to understand complex concepts, identify and address potential issues, and deliver practical solutions that align with the company’s values and risk tolerance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of agreements, including:
- Service agreements for clients.
- Non-disclosure agreements (NDAs).
- Contracts with insurance carriers and third-party intermediaries.
- Advise and collaborate with internal business units specializing in diverse client risk areas to align contracts with business objectives and risk tolerance.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve legal and business issues, ensuring agreements are compliant and aligned with the company’s values and risk management goals.
- Provide practical legal advice on day-to-day operations, regulatory matters, claims management, and risk management issues in the P&C insurance space.
- Stay current on property and casualty insurance regulations, including compliance requirements for brokers, carriers, and third-party intermediaries.
- Support the business in claims-related matters, providing legal guidance on claims processes and issues as they arise.
- Partner with business teams to provide timely, business-focused legal support across a variety of initiatives.
- Develop a deep understanding of company operations and goals to provide proactive legal guidance.
Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities
- Strong expertise in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex agreements with varying levels of complexity.
- Knowledge of brokerage services, claims management, insurance carriers, risk management, and associated risk management services.
- Familiarity with property and casualty insurance regulatory requirements and compliance issues.
- Exceptional analytical and issue-spotting skills, with the ability to resolve legal and business issues effectively.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across multiple business units.
- Proactive and efficient, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Education and/or Experience
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- 5+ years of legal experience in the property and casualty insurance industry, with a background in one or more of the following:
- Insurance brokerage.
- Insurance carriers.
- Regulatory insurance agencies.
- Insurance defense law.
- Experience with claims management and associated regulatory or legal issues.
- Familiarity with the nuances of client risk across various industries.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while also being an effective team player.

The base salary range for this position is $120,000 – $150,000. The base salary offered will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, experience, credentials, education, certifications, skill level required for the position, the scope of the position, and geographic location. Actual base salary offered will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
