Job Description:
Dominion Financial Services (DFS) is a mortgage originator for single family real estate. DFS originates two main loan products – a short-term bridge loan for fix & flip investors, and a long-term rental loan for landlords growing their rental portfolios. DFS is thriving in the current competitive environment and shows aggressive quarterly growth. Our current origination volume is $70MM per month. DFS is looking for a detail-oriented Controller to join our growing team.

As the Controller you will oversee daily accounting operations, including the accounting, payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable departments.

In This Role You Will
  • Lead and direct all accounting operational functions
  • Establish polices and procedures within the department as needed
  • Prepare internal and external financial statements
  • Manage and complete audits
  • Maintain and establish policies and procedures for effectively recording, analyzing, and reporting financial transactions
  • Evaluate accounting and internal control systems
  • Develop and monitor business performance metrics
  • Manage multiple balance sheets
  • Manage cash flow across multiple balance sheets
  • Oversee daily processing of deposits, wires, payables
  • Analyze monthly reporting for upper management in connection with all DFS companies
  • Oversee regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance
  • Locate and resolve accounting discrepancies
  • Hire, train and retain skilled accounting staff
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 6-8 years of related experience with 3 years of supervisory experience
  • Strong experience working with QuickBooks
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word proficiency
  • Analytical thinking skills to include summarizing information and clearly identifying key elements, patterns, results and/or relationships
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills
  • Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in mortgage related fields a plus
  • Real estate knowledge is a plus
