About the Role: As Controller, you’ll be a critical financial leader, shaping and scaling our global accounting operations during a period of exciting growth and transformation. Reporting to the CFO, this Director-level role is responsible for ensuring accurate, audit-ready financial reporting while building the foundation for automation, M&A integration, and strategic decision-making. You’ll lead a distributed accounting team, foster operational discipline, and serve as a key advisor to executive leadership and private equity partners. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, inspires accountability, and aligns financial rigor with business outcomes. 

What You’ll Do:

  • Financial Leadership & Strategic Partnership:
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the CFO and private equity sponsors, translating financial data into strategic insights and risk-based recommendations. 
  • Lead the preparation of monthly financial packages, covenant compliance reporting, and board presentations. 
  • Contribute to margin improvement, operating efficiency, and inorganic growth initiatives. 
  • Ensure compliance with ASC 606 and US GAAP across all entities and revenue streams. 

  • Global Accounting & Operations:
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting functions, including GL, AR/AP, payroll, billing, consolidations, and multi-entity reporting. 
  • Drive a timely and accurate global close process, ensuring integrity and completeness of financial reporting. 
  • Maintain and continuously improve internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures for an audit-ready environment. 
  • Manage relationships with external audit and tax advisors across multiple jurisdictions. 

  • Systems, Integration & Scale: 
  • Own the finance systems ecosystem (Sage Intacct, Avalara, Salesforce, etc.) and lead automation and scalability initiatives. 
  • Lead post-M&A finance integration efforts—harmonizing billing, compliance, and reporting processes. 
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to evolve finance system architecture and drive operational efficiency. 

  • Team Leadership & Culture:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a distributed accounting team, fostering a culture of transparency, ownership, and technical excellence. 
  • Act as a cultural steward—modeling Recast’s values of curiosity, accountability, and collaboration in a remote-first environment. 
  • Promote a mindset of continuous improvement and business partnership across functions. 

  • Insights & Decision Support: 
  • Track and interpret key SaaS metrics and financial KPIs to inform strategic planning. 
  • Support financial modeling, budgeting, and long-range forecasting efforts. 
  • Partner with RevOps and Product to evaluate pricing strategies, launch new revenue streams, and support cash planning. 

Who you Are:

  • Required Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, with at least 2+ years in a Controller or Director-level leadership role. 
  • Experience in a high-growth, PE- or VC-backed SaaS company with recurring revenue models. 
  • Deep expertise in ASC 606, US GAAP, and managing audits across multiple legal entities and currencies. 
  • Experience with M&A finance integration and process harmonization. 
  • Demonstrated success leading a global accounting team, including in remote or hybrid environments. 

  • Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • CPA or CMA strongly preferred. 
  • Familiarity with debt covenant compliance and investor reporting in a PE-backed environment. 
  • Proficiency with Sage Intacct, Avalara, Salesforce, Rippling, and related tools. 
  • Exceptional business acumen with the ability to distill complex financial issues into clear, actionable strategies.

Additionally, cash compensation for this role includes 15% annual discretionary bonus potential.
