Controller - Non Profit (Hybrid Remote) - Washington, DC
This position allows for 3 days per week remote / work from home. Salary: $115,000 - 135,000/year with bonus. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to join our team. The Controller will play a critical role in managing the financial operations of the organization, overseeing a team of accountants, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and reporting requirements.
Responsibilities
- Financial Management:
- Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure accurate and transparent financial reporting.
- Manage day-to-day financial activities, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis.
- Monitor financial performance against budgetary targets and provide insights and recommendations to senior management.
- Financial Reporting and Compliance:
- Prepare and review financial statements, reports, and analyses in accordance with GAAP and regulatory guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with IRS regulations, grant requirements, and non-profit accounting standards.
- Coordinate external audits, tax filings, and other financial reporting obligations.
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead and supervise a team of 3 accountants, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, set goals, and provide feedback to enhance team performance and efficiency.
- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, promoting teamwork, communication, and knowledge sharing.
- Financial Planning and Analysis:
- Collaborate with department heads and senior management to develop annual budgets, financial forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
- Perform financial analysis, variance analysis, and scenario modeling to support strategic decision-making and resource allocation.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, revenue enhancement, and process improvement initiatives.
- Grant and Fund Management:
- Oversee grant accounting, fund management, and compliance with grant agreements and reporting requirements.
- Monitor grant budgets, expenditures, and reporting deadlines, ensuring accurate and timely submissions to funders.
