About the Job:

We are seeking a talented Contract Senior Website Visual Designer (UX/UI) to join our Creative Services team. The role requires impeccable design skills, knowledge of UX research techniques and the ability to craft strategic deliverables including (but not limited to) as sitemaps, user journeys using discovery data  and your expertise in client management, problem-solving, and strategic thinking. This is a great opportunity for a creative, eloquent, and organized designer to make a large impact on a growing department, with plenty of independence and flexibility within the role.

This is a fully remote position and reports to the Director of Strategy and Creative.

Responsibilities:

You can expect to: 

  • Generate end-to-end visual design  collateral for our clients including but not limited to: strategic direction, pattern libraries, mood boards, wireframes, UI visuals, and high fidelity prototypes.
  • Develop strategic UX deliverables, such as sitemaps, user journeys, and personas, informed by a blend of quantitative and qualitative discovery insights.
  • Lead discovery workshops and design tailored UX research methodologies to align with project goals.
  • Collaborate with our Content and UX Strategists to craft experiences that are not only visually appealing but effective at balancing user goals and business needs.
  • Assist our internal marketing team by providing design support to further our ongoing marketing objectives.
  • Be Kanopi’s advocate for design by articulating and defending your design rationale to both internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Work closely with our Project Management team to define project deliverables and delivery schedules.
  • Contribute to website visual design direction and collaboration with the creative services team.
  • Provide mentorship to intermediate and junior team members in the form of constructive feedback and recommendations on project deliverables.
  • Performing marketing activities on behalf of Kanopi, including but not limited to conducting webinars, participating in promotional videos, and representing the brand in public-facing events.

About the Compensation:

This is a contract position. Hourly rate is commensurate with experience. The hourly rate range for this contract position is between $55/hour and $70/hour (in your local currency - CAD or US). This is a 100% remote role, but you must live and be able to work in the US or Canada.

Requirements

We are looking for candidates who demonstrate the following skills and competencies:

  • A strong portfolio showcasing your understanding of user-centered, responsive UI/UX  design for websites.
  • 5+ years of professional experience designing responsive and mobile website products.
  • 3+ years of experience working within an agency setting.
  • Familiarity with design and communications tools including Figma, FigJam, Adobe Creative Cloud, Slack, and Google suite of tools.
  • Expertise in Google Analytics (GA4), heatmapping tools, and user testing platforms. 
  • Capability to communicate ideas to a wide range of audiences while incorporating constructive feedback.
  • Comfortable working remotely within a distributed team.
  • Comfortable working in both waterfall and agile environments.
  • Able to manage multiple projects with evolving requirements.
  • Familiarity with front-end web design practices and coding is a plus but not required.
  • Experience with mission-driven and nonprofit clients is a plus.
  • Have a passion for the web, open-source development, and working with a community of fun, humorous folks!
