ShiftMed is looking for a Staff Accountant to assist the Finance department. We are looking for a self-starting, organized, detail-oriented candidate with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment to perform a variety of accounting and administrative duties. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for month-end closings, maintaining records of financial transactions, ensuring the accuracy of customer billings, and processing vendor payments. The Staff Accountant will maintain account reconciliations, support the budgeting process, compile KPIs, and conduct financial analysis activities. This position reports to the Treasury Officer.

About your role:

  • Onsite and local to McLean, VA required.
  • Contracted opportunity through February 2025.
  • Managing accounts payable using accounting software and other programs.
  • Handling accounts payable for separate entities and vendors.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with new and existing vendors. Respond to vendor enquiries regarding payments.
  • Ensuring bills and payroll are paid in a timely and accurate manner while adhering to departmental procedures.
  • Ensuring payments are process in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Processing due invoices for payments.
  • Processing transactions and performing accounting duties such as account maintenance and recording entries.
  • Verifying and maintaining vendor records.
  • Manage monthly AP close and provide month-end reports by category and vendor for cost analysis and ensuring accounts payable activities are well supported and documented.
  • Assist with annual audits.
  • Review and process employees expense reports.
  • Performs special projects as needed and provides support to the accounting team.
  • Capable of multi-tasking and deadline oriented.

Requirements and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance or related degree (Business).
  • 2+ years accounting experience.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • NetSuite or similar software experience required.
  • QuickBooks or similar accounting software experience required.
