Content Marketing Manager - 12 month FTC (Maternity Cover)

United Kingdom - Remote

Note: This is a fixed-term contract role for a period of 12 months, commencing in May 2025 and ending in May 2026.

The Supercritical mission

Supercritical provides radical transparency in price, availability, and quality with our marketplace, helping the largest companies in the world to secure top-tier CDR credits quickly and confidently. With live pricing across multiple pathways and deep vetting to the highest standards, we simplify procurement and reduce risk in a nascent, complex, ever-changing market. Forward-thinking companies like The Economist Group, Virgin Atlantic, and Rothschild & Co trust Supercritical to meet their demand for high-quality carbon removal for immediate climate action today, not decades from now. We’re backed by the likes of Lightspeed Venture Partners, who led our $13M Series A, to accelerate our mission to scale carbon removal to gigatonnes.

Why is carbon removal critical?

Carbon removal includes nature-based solutions like biochar and cutting-edge technologies that literally pull carbon from the sky and store it underground for millennia. We need to scale to remove 10 billion tonnes a year by 2050 to stay below 1.5 degrees of warming. This is over 14,000x the rate we are removing carbon at today. We've only removed a few thousand tonnes to date. This will be a trillion dollar industry by 2050.

About the Marketing team

Reporting to the Director of Marketing, you’ll work to maintain and build on our established content and marketing strategy. We have big ambitions to create and scale the carbon removal market. Content is critical to that. Joining our small yet experienced team means you’ll directly impact what Marketing at Supercritical looks like and how the world gets to net zero by 2050.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Refine and expand an existing content marketing (including social) and editorial strategy to engage senior audiences at enterprise companies, executing on and improving what we’ve built over the last year.
  • Lead the ideation, briefing, editing, and distribution of content, managing a well-organised content production pipeline, content calendar, and distribution process. Cultivate relationships with freelancers, agencies, and internal subject matter experts to ensure adequate resources for our content calendar.
  • Work with writers to produce insightful, authoritative, deeply researched pieces that simplify complex climate tech topics and add something new to the conversation—spanning reports, in-depth articles, analyses, and thought leadership essays.
  • Develop a variety of marketing, sales, and product-focused copy across blog posts, emails, case studies, landing pages, ad copy, talk tracks, press releases, ABM content, and marketplace projects. You’ll adapt and repurpose it for diverse audiences and channels.
  • Refine and edit content produced by freelancers and team members, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and high quality. Mentor team members to enhance their writing skills and subject matter expertise.
  • Quickly respond to emerging opportunities—such as new carbon removal methods or regulatory changes—to keep content fresh and relevant. Actively seek compelling climate stories to engage the audience.
  • Use analytics and KPIs (organic traffic, engagement, etc.) to measure success against commercial goals and continually optimise content strategies.
  • Be our brand and tone of voice guardian. Contribute to developing and establishing the voice of Supercritical into a distinguished, recognised one. Continually think about how we get our point of view out into the world by pitching and implementing new content and marketing strategies to elevate brand presence.

Requirements

What are we looking for

For a 12-month fixed-term contract, we are looking for an experienced Content Marketing Manager who knows how to create content in a high-growth, high-change environment for an audience of senior executives at the largest companies in the world.

That could be a busy newsroom, a high-performing team, or a scrappy startup. It’s likely you’ve owned B2B content strategy to some extent before, balancing the foundational content marketing must-dos with experimental tactics. You deliver on high velocity content requirements across multiple formats with an exacting eye for detail, yet rarely miss a deadline. You fearlessly wield ChatGPT to propel your productivity and keep your editing eye sharp.

At Supercritical, you’ll turn complex financial concepts, scientific information, and proprietary data into briefs for writers, flex your fingers on content creation and editing, and distribute that content across the channels specific to our target audience and their stage of maturity, focusing on business impact and relevance over big numbers on a chart. You bring data, learning, and ideas to inform and elevate the future content strategy and roadmap.

You’ll be great if you have:

  • Successful track record developing and executing editorial and content strategies and plans for senior-level enterprise audiences.
  • Ability to craft compelling stories and high-quality copy across various formats, simplifying complex topics for broader understanding.
  • Experience briefing, managing, and mentoring writers, freelancers, or agencies to maintain consistent brand voice and quality standards.
  • Organisational prowess in coordinating content production schedules while staying flexible for fast-emerging opportunities.
  • A passion for climate tech—or the desire to become an expert—with the drive to keep up with trends and collaborate with thought leaders.
  • Familiarity with analytics tools and performance metrics to assess the impact of content and inform iterative improvements.
  • Enthusiasm for shaping and refining a recognisable brand voice, plus the creativity to pitch new ideas that elevate brand presence.

Benefits

Our values

We have set ourselves the mission of leading the carbon removal market to 14,000x its current size by 2050. In order to do that we need brave adventurers that think huge and deliver at speed. We call this the 14,000x mindset. The key components of the 14,000x mindset are:

  • 🙋 Ownership mentality: We relish autonomy and we create it for others. We are deeply curious and thrive on understanding the root cause of complex problems. We take ownership over our own and our team’s development by giving and soliciting direct and actionable feedback.
  • 🏎️ Move fast: We identify the most important problems to solve and cut everything else. We test ideas early so we don’t waste time on dead ends. We default to action and deliver awesome results.
  • ☀️ Radiate positive energy: We come to problems with energy and passion. We nurture new ideas and engage positively in testing them. We inspire our colleagues to go further and are resilient to set backs. We recharge by taking time off. We are here for a great day, not a long day.
  • 📣 Communicate proactively: We communicate simply and directly. We broadcast updates, insights and lessons learnt, especially when things haven’t gone to plan. We give as much context as possible so our teammates can make great decisions.
