The Content Director will lead a team of high performing editors and writers who develop thought leadership and demand generation content. The role will oversee an established team of editors responsible for writing and editing compelling, data-driven thought leadership to support multiple industries and lines of business, and a growing team of demand generation writers who create content for marketing campaigns that drives engagement and builds sales pipeline. The Content Director will collaborate across functions within the internal communications, marketing, demand generation and growth teams and with client-facing practitioners to ensure that the firm’s editorial and demand generation content strategy drives audience engagement, positions RSM as a leader on issues important to middle market businesses and drives demand for RSM’s services.

Essential Duties:

Content oversight: Leads strategy to ensure quality and consistency of content produced for external-facing platforms. Ensures that content is aligned with appropriate stakeholder groups, puts forward consistent firm positions on issues and supports the buyer journey. Evaluates and improves processes and assets and drives the use of technologies and platforms as part of the content development process, including leveraging artificial intelligence and other tools to create quality content that can be repurposed and shared across multiple platforms. Liaises with key groups including communications, marketing, demand generation and research to ensure content initiatives align with clearly defined business objectives. Champions enterprise content across various groups to build awareness and engagement.

Development of enterprise-level thought leadership: Oversees development of economic and enterprise-level thought leadership developed in conjunction with a team of internal economists, industry analysts and subject matter experts. Assets include quarterly industry outlooks, proprietary research reports, articles, blog posts, infographics and videos. Works to identify opportunities to create enterprise-level content from emerging marketing campaigns and research initiatives.

Team oversight: Supervises and mentors editorial and demand writing teams across multiple countries, including our centers in India and El Salvador. Facilitates cross-collaboration among editors and demand generation writers and with other internal teams. Holds regular group and one-on-one meetings. Fosters career development through coaching, goal setting and training. Reviews/directs selective content projects as needed.

Cross-functional collaboration: Works closely with colleagues in communications, marketing, demand generation, digital, design and research to facilitate and transparency and project alignment. Connects regularly with these teams and with members of the global network to identify opportunities for broader positioning of content and use cases.

Minimum Qualifications:

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS in English or Journalism (required) or Communications
  • MBA or MS in integrated marketing communications preferred

TECHNICAL/SOFT SKILLS

  • Highly collaborative and able to work with a variety of stakeholders to achieve results (required)
  • Strong familiarity with research and data analysis (preferred)
  • Knowledge of WordPress, electronic publishing and Excel (preferred)
  • Understanding  of SEO and writing for SEO
  • Knowledge of content relevance across diverse channels (web, social, sponsored content, etc.)
  • Experience leveraging artificial intelligence for the authoring and distribution of content and for audience analysis and engagement metrics

EXPERIENCE

  • 10+ years in editorial or content management, with a background in finance, professional services, or a similar industry (required)
  • 5+ years of leadership and team management, including the management of overseas resources, with a proven record of driving performance (required)
  • High-level strategic planning experience aligned with business objectives (required)
  • Strong knowledge of AP style (required)
  • Multimedia experience (preferred)
  • Creating / repurposing content for use across different channels (preferred)

LEADERSHIP SKILLS

  • Able to coach professionals in the development of compelling content assets
  • Ability to facilitate and lead cross-functional collaboration with marketing, communications, digital, design, research and demand generation teams

At RSM, an employee’s pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $122,800 - $217,300

Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
