Compliance Manager
United States - Remote
The Compliance Manager will reinforce compliance and security leadership in ensuring that all platforms of Sphere Commerce support and enable clients to comply with relevant industry and governmental standards. Act as the SME on Sphere’s compliance and security program to external stakeholders, such as clients and partners. Serve as liaison between clients and Sphere product and technical teams in assuring that solutions provided are consistent with applicable laws, industry standards, guidelines, and Card Brand Operating Rules. Assist in development, implementation, and management of compliance programs. Act as liaison between product/technical teams, compliance, and security leadership in assuring new product development adheres to compliance obligations. Work with compliance and security leadership to drive continuous improvement in Sphere payments’ compliance and security operations.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Monitor and assess state and federal mandates, card brand operating regulations, and industry standards to assist in product management, sales, marketing, and other functions.
- Conduct periodic internal reviews or audits to ensure that compliance procedures are followed.
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and dissemination of policies, procedures, and practices throughout the organization.
- Manage compliance programs such as Third-Party Risk Management
- Assist in the creation of compliance-related training materials.
- Identify compliance issues that require follow-up or investigation.
- Keep abreast of regulatory developments within or outside of the company as well as evolving best practices in compliance.
- Work closely with the Chief Compliance Officer and other senior executives.
- With limited oversight, practice independent judgement and initiative relative to Sphere’s compliance operations.
Environment/Conditions
- This will be fully remote, with occasional travel.
- Full Time hours, Monday to Friday, Core office hours will be 8 hours within the range of hours. Depending on assigned responsibilities or projects, some nights and weekends will be required.
- Some travel may be expected for this position.
Requirements
- In-depth knowledge of the industry’s standards and regulations.
- Excellent knowledge of reporting procedures and record keeping.
- Ability to provide training to internal and external clients on compliance related material.
- Comfortable collaborating with all levels within an organization.
- A business acumen partnered with a dedication to ethics and legality.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or 6 years of experience in a related field (payments, banking, technology, business, financial services, product management, risk management).
Preferred
- Excellent research and analytical skills, coupled with strong decision-making abilities.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently.
- Experience working in compliance-related activities in the payments industry.
- Knowledge of PCI DSS, HIPAA, privacy laws, and card brand operating rules a plus.
- Certified Ethics and Compliance Professional (CCEP) designation preferred.

Annual base salary gross: $70,000 - $90,000 + Potential Bonus
The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of the Sphere salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and be based on various factors, such as candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and proficiency for the role. The base salary is one component of Sphere’s total compensation package for employees.
