The Team:

Morningstar’s Legal & Compliance team supports Morningstar’s global business entities, primarily focusing on those registered with and governed by regulatory authorities. Our legal experts work to protect our intellectual property and make sure we continue to conduct business with uncompromising ethics. Our compliance professionals help each Morningstar business entity adhere to the rules and regulations of the local regulatory authorities.  

 

The Role:

The candidate will support the PP&T team in general editorial, design and production support for the Compliance and Legal PP&T activities (P&P edits and design, website/systems design and management, template and report design, regulatory productions, etc.), and other Global Controls needs as appropriate. The position will be based in our New York or Chicago office.

We follow a hybrid policy of 3 days onsite and 2 days remote work.

 

The candidate will be expected to: 

  • Demonstrate core design skills—especially concerning typography, composition, information hierarchy, and data visualization—to create delightful, engaging experiences that reinforce the Morningstar brand 
  • Design a wide variety of content, including print experiences, data visualizations, presentations, and web assets. 
  • Proofread documents and make sure that they are grammatically correct, readable, and correspond with the brand image and target audience of the company. 
  • Present and defend design solutions to cross-functional teams, be open to feedback and know how and when to defend design choices.   
  • Incorporate Morningstar design systems, brand standards, and experiences while educating both stakeholders and engineers.   
  • Connect and communicate with other design teams within Morningstar. 
  • Support the Global Head of Policies & Procedures and Training on information requests and document productions, as needed. 
  • Assist with requests for policy translations. 
  • Provide updates and reports to the Global Head of Policies & Procedures and Training as needed. 
  • Adapt and reprioritize when deadlines change or regulatory issues arise. 

Requirements:

    • Experience creating a range of editorial designs, long-document reports, and presentations.   
    • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in digital/visual design, a related field, or equivalent experience.  
    • Experience in design, specifically within the editorial and publishing domain.  
    • Experience in a compliance and/or regulatory role within a financial services firm is highly desired. Or must have a willingness to learn the regulatory framework. 
    • Experience with systems/software/technology platforms – preferably ServiceNow and Confluence (Cornerstone, Team Mate, MyComplianceOffice, in-house systems, etc. a plus). The ability to master them in a short period of time based on other systems experience 
    • An enthusiastic and engaging presentation style and visual communication skills. 
    • Ability to present design solutions to project teams and other stakeholders. 
    • Demonstrated design skills, especially concerning information hierarchy, typography, and data visualization.  
    • Advanced experience with design tools inside of the Adobe Creative Suite.  
    • Advanced experience with Word, Excel and Powerpoint.  
    • Ability to be flexible and handle multiple projects and re-prioritizations.   
    • Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills; self-directed, comfortable working independently, and able to thrive in a rapidly changing environment.   
    • High degree of professionalism and integrity with demonstrated ability to handle confidential issues in a professional manner.  
    • Experience with corporate policies, procedures, and/or a training program a plus.   
    • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, in conjunction with Compliance and other groups as needed. 
    • Ability to interact with employees at various levels of an organization and across geographies. 
    • High level of attention to detail and problem solving skills, and sound judgment. 
    • Organizational and project management skills with the flexibility and willingness to respond to changing priorities.  
    • A team player with a positive and proactive attitude.

      Base Salary Compensation Range$71,432.00 - $121,432.00
