Job Description:

COMPENSATION ANALYST

Purpose: Ensure competitive compensation programs for Meow Wolf employees.

Location: Remote friendly, may be based in Texas, Colorado, New Mexico, or Nevada 

Compensation: The salary range for this position is $65k-88k. Compensation for candidates may vary based upon location and experience.

Deadline: The deadline for submitting applications for this position is March 14, 2025. Meow Wolf reserves the right to extend this deadline if needed.

Under the direction of the Sr. Director, Total Rewards, the Compensation Analyst  will administer Meow Wolf’s pay, bonus, and long term incentive programs to ensure we are competitive with the market. This role will research job requirements, evaluate job positions, assess and perform analysis on collected wage data, and prepare wage and salary data to facilitate compensation and management functions of the organization. As Compensation Analyst, you will execute the annual compensation cycles (including annual increases, step increases, promotions, bonuses and equity), maintain pay structures and compensation plans in Workday, and develop tools for recruiting and HR partners. You will also collaborate with management to determine type, scope, and purpose of analyses. Responsibilities are of a professional level and require understanding of both compensation theory and practice. 

You are essential to the design and optimization of compensation processes and procedures for a rapidly growing organization. This role will be an integral part of our Human Resources team and a trusted partner to business leaders.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review all new job requests from HR and management. Maintain job descriptions for each position in the organization; ensure descriptions accurately reflect the work being performed by incumbents. Analyze for exemption status, application of pay grade, union status and step progression.

  • Interview and survey employees and managers to gather and document job, organizational, and occupational information including duties, responsibilities, and skills required by each job.

  • Benchmark jobs against survey data and other market intelligence to determine competitive compensation ranges for each position. Make recommendations for surveys/databases with better insight and application to the company’s jobs.

  • Manages compensation cycles including annual merit increases, annual bonus payouts, annual step progressions. Organize HR support and lead efforts with management throughout the cycle.

  • Draft communications, procedures, and plans for compensation processing. 

  • Prepare and present summary reports of job analysis and compensation analysis information.

  • Gather data from market-based compensation surveys; use spreadsheet and data analysis techniques to assess results and market trends.

  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement job analysis instruments and materials.

  • Conduct data and cost analyses to be used in annual budgeting, employee negotiations, and collective bargaining agreements.

  • Research employee rewards in similar industries; based on findings, recommend changes or updates to the company’s existing programs or policies.

  • Conduct focus groups to collect employee feedback on specific issues or topics related to compensation.

  • Plan and communicate preferred methods and best practices for hiring, training, compensating, and evaluating employees.

  • Advise management on applicable state and federal employment regulations, compensation policies, human resource procedures, and collective agreements.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned. 

Required Qualifications:

  • You bring 2-3+ years of experience in compensation, including managing compensation cycles and designing and implementing compensation programs or 2-3+ years of experience in a role requiring high analytical skills.

  • Experience specializing in a professional field such as compensation, data or systems.

  • You possess a degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field.

  • Previous experience with Workday or other HCM systems.

  • Experience developing and/or managing executive compensation plans preferred.

  • Possess strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate highly complex and ambiguous situations.

  • CCP Certification preferred.

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets and/or Microsoft Access.

Essential tools to set you up for success…

  • You will utilize Workday as the Compensation Partner; assisting with reviews of all compensation related transactions and administering compensation programs. You will meticulously maintain our Workday system and ensure the accuracy of the compensation data being entered.

  • You will use Excel and/or Google Sheets to create formulas and build pivot tables in order to analyze data and trends.

  • You will use Google Suite to create calendar meetings as well as track, analyze, and share.

 

Work environment & physical demands…

  • This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 9a.m. to 5 p.m. or 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

  • This position is remote friendly/ WFH.

  • No travel is required for this position.
