Part-Time Companion for Senior with Moderate Dementia
We are seeking a compassionate and patient companion for my 69-year-old mother-in-law, who has moderate dementia. She is still sharp in many ways but has significant short-term memory loss and struggles with complex tasks and decisions.
Duties include:
- Spending a few hours with her during the day (and occasional evenings), offering companionship and light engagement.
- Assisting with simple activities like puzzles, which she enjoys and will happily do for hours.
- Preparing a light lunch (e.g., heating leftovers or making a sandwich or salad).
- Providing a calm and comfortable environment while keeping her company.
Requirements:
- Comfortable around pets, as we have two small dogs and a cat.
- Ability to help foster a relaxed, friendly atmosphere for her.
- Experience with dementia care is a plus but not required, as long as you are patient and understanding.
Note: No personal care is required; she is still mobile and able to use the bathroom independently.
Location: We are located between Hilldale and Research Park, just a few steps off the busline. We can provide rides depending on where you live.
This position is perfect for someone looking to make a positive impact on a senior's life while helping our family with some respite.
We are a married couple without kids. We are full-tme professionals and I work from home full-time, while my husband works from home part-time. One of us will likely be home when you are here. If you are interested, please contact us for more details.
Qualifications:
Experience with nursing or dementia care is a plus but not required, as long as you are patient and understanding.
