Job Description

The Community Outreach Specialist will provide onsite job matching services, WorkinTexas.com registrations, ResumePro development, one-on-one or small group setting workshops, and even initial intake assessments. Eligibility for TANF and SNAP could be verified to educate recipients on the support services available to obtain and retain employment.

  • Assigned to community based and non-profit organizations to provide workforce services to clients and/or families on-site.
  • Provide on-site skills assessments, screening for program eligibility, and job search assistance.
  • Prioritize assignments and recognizes the need to adjust or adapt within a group setting or deliver one-on-one services.
  • Interact with job seekers to ensure appropriate matches with employers’ needs and job postings.
  • Services provided are keyed into WorkinTexas.com and TWIST within 24 hours.
  • Ensure data entry, documentation, tracking and reporting are completed in a timely manner.
  • Provide on-site job readiness workshops, including but not limited to interviewing skills, resume writing, and job search techniques.
  • Facilitate orientations for workforce center services or for TANF Applicants, when applicable.
  • Travel from site to site and between workforce centers as needed.
  • Coordinate and communicate timely and professionally with community organizations.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree from a recognized community college or four-year college or university, and comparable years of related case management and job matching experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills.
  • Demonstrate reliability and able to work independently.
  • Familiarity with the communities being served, with knowledge and understanding of local needs and resources.
  • Public speaking experience.
  • Demonstrated computer skills, with experience using word processing and spreadsheet software programs.
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with management, coworkers, workers from other programs as well as the public.
  • Must be organized and detailed oriented.

Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
