BASIC FUNCTION:

The communications strategist is responsible for the strategic and tactical communications support of organizational initiatives. The Communications Strategist works closely with teams on communications planning, usage, consistency and is responsible for developing and implementing communications strategies to support integrated and cohesive communications across American Ag Credit. The Communications Strategist will work closely with the entire brand team, including Marketing, Storytelling and Communications to share impactful communications that connect American AgCredit employee to one another, our clients and our mission.

The Communications Strategist will be responsible for delivering counsel and insights that ensure strategic, effective and engaging communications plans. This role requires someone who can see platforms as vehicles to tell brand stories.

Qualified candidates will be able to effectively work closely with the project teams and internal stakeholders on multiple projects and provide insight to clearly communicate needs of the group or initiative in an interesting and engaging way.  The position will be responsible for not only translating communications objectives into campaign strategies but will also be tasked with proficiently managing campaigns throughout all phases of the project — from intake to idea development and execution. Ultimately, this role drives innovation at the project or group level and provides guidance to other partners within the brand office.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Work closely with project teams and departments to understand a group’s objectives or initiatives and how the impact the organization, then determine how communications planning can be used to connect employees and other stakeholders with the group or initiative.

  • Challenge and inspire teams to think differently about how strategic communications can further their plans. 

  • Support the American AgCredit Culture by crafting communications that reinforce our employee brand and promote and support our mission.

  • Collaborate with internal teams (i.e. marketing, digital marketing, storytelling, front office teams, etc.) to create and execute strategic and impactful communications plans.

  • Support team in understanding how audiences connect with initiatives through media and technology and how the proper partner, content, and sequencing can tell a holistic story.

  • Ensure communications plans and tactics are of the highest caliber.

LEVELS OF SUPERVISION EXERCISED AND RECEIVED:

Reports to the Executive Head of Communications and Legislative Affairs.

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • BS/BA degree with emphasis in Communications, Marketing or Journalism.  

  • Minimum of seven years’ experience in marketing, communications, public relations, or related field preferred.

  • Demonstrated understanding of and experience with communications strategy and content development strategy.

  • Strong writing and editing skills with a flair for storytelling; fluency in writing and preparing copy for a variety of communications channels.

  • Understanding of agricultural communications and agricultural advocacy.

  • Creative thinker, with a desire and ability to seek opportunities for continuous improvement

  • Versed in social media principles and practices.

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to execute programs with speed, accuracy and efficiency.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and collaborative skills.

  • Experience using PC, layout and design software, spreadsheet, and other Office software.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Must have the ability to perform basic office tasks and work in a typical office setting. Employee will be sitting for extended periods of time and accomplishing work at a desk and work at a computer for an extended period of time. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills to adequately convey ideas and work well with a team. Ability to talk and hear, sit and use their hands and fingers, and reach in all directions is essential in performance of the job. Some lifting and moving of items up to 25 pounds required. Work during established business hours and may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.

FULL-TIME REMOTE: These roles and job functions can be done remotely, while maintaining our strong commitment to customer service and our business goals. Employees are welcome to come to an office to work if needed, and some travel for team meetings will be required.

PAY RANGE:

Minimum $103,198.31 - Max $175,437.13 Annual

This range is reflective of the national salary average for this position and will be adjusted using geographic variance for physical location of the hired candidate. American AgCredit may compensate outside of the salary range for bona fide reasons not related to membership in a protected class.
