ICF Next is seeking a Communications Specialist to support a science and engineering innovation program at a federal agency. Your work will contribute to enabling the U.S. to uphold its leadership in innovation in science and engineering. You will develop and support communication and outreach campaigns, messaging, products, project timelines, and other tasks as needed.  
 
This is an opportunity to contribute to important communications projects from the beginning and all while building a great career at ICF! You’ll work in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and communication needs happening in parallel. You’ll be a part of a team implementing the high-level communication strategy to streamline communication systems and projects as well as the development of the long-term communication plan.    

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as communications specialist responsible for supporting a communications team with the development and implementation of communications and outreach efforts.
  • Write and edit a wide range of content to include technical and scientific content to short and catchy promotional content. 
  • Develop and execute communication plans, campaigns, products and incorporate events into a communications plan. 
  • Work closely with staff across the government agency including Public Affairs. 
  • Develop content for communication products including presentations and promotional packages/toolkits. 
  • Draft promotional email marketing materials and newsletters.
  • Take detailed notes during client meetings, conferences, and presentations. As needed use notes to develop event follow-up materials such as meeting minutes, summaries, and reports.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to ensure branding and style guidelines are cohesive across products and projects (web, materials, and social media products).
  • Oversee the review and production of public-facing communications materials.
  • Ensure tasks meet internal and external deadlines. 
  • Manage and track client deliverables and deadlines using SharePoint, Trello, Teams, and other project management tools.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in in communications, public relations, or a related field of study.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting communications and outreach teams. 
  • 1+ years of experience supporting communications for science, research & development, or innovation topics.
  • Must be able to obtain or maintain a public trust.
  • Work must be performed within the US.
     

Professional Skills:

  • Detailed oriented, with superior verbal, written, personal interaction skills.
  • Proficiency in email marketing tools and software (e.g., GovDelivery).
  • Experience developing content for a variety of communications channels.
  •   Professional Skills:

  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple ongoing activities. 
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:

$63,511.00 - $107,968.00
