Position Summary:

Coordinate and support Conserva Aves communication processes and products resulting from the consortium partners (American Bird Conservancy, Audubon, BirdLife International, Birds Canada, and RedLAC), and those from organizations implementing or receiving funds from Conserva Aves across 9 Latin American countries. This position will also support Audubon Americas' external and internal communications.

Compensation:

$404,500 - $449,500 MXN

Essential Functions

  • Lead the implementation of the Conserva Aves Communication Strategy in coordination with consortium partners and members of the Regional Communications Committee (composed of delegates from the consortium partners).

  • Lead the implementation and annual update of the Action Plan in coordination with consortium partners and members of the Regional Communications Committee.

  • Plan and edit editorial content from all national partners and the initiative's managing partners to maintain a regular informational presence for prioritized and other relevant audiences.

  • Responsible for collecting biannual data reflecting the reach or impact of such content, according to reporting parameters of the managing partners and national partner entities of Conserva Aves.

  • Proactively create, design, and plan comprehensive communication campaigns.

  • Support Audubon Americas' communications needs, including content production and editing for digital platforms, and support communications components of projects.

  • Support a culture of philanthropy, including public funding efforts. 

  • Collaborate with colleagues across the Americas including through joint planning and execution of shared priorities.  

  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, professional editing, or related field.

  • A minimum of five years of progressive experience in communications; leadership roles in strategic communications and project management are a plus. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.

  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing communication strategies across various media and channels.

  • Editorial experience as a journalist or editor for text or digital content. Proven experience in writing, editing, and proofreading texts in both English and Spanish. Familiarity with news writing and the media market in Latin America.

  • Competence with major social media platforms (Instagram/Facebook, X, LinkedIn, among others).

  • Basic knowledge of graphic design and photo editing.

  • Spanish fluency and advanced English proficiency. Ability to work independently while also serving as a connector for a geographically dispersed team.

  • Ability to identify opportunities for generating content (texts, photos, stories) that highlight Conserva Aves activities in the countries where it operates.

  • Passion for nature-related topics; prior experience writing or covering information about the environment and its ecosystems is a plus.
