Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater, Hybrid, Minimum of 2 days a week in office.
This is a Part Time role.

The Opportunity

The CommOps Organisational Learning Specialist plays a key role in supporting the organisational learning activities within CommOps, part of the Performance Improvement Department. This role involves championing a learning and improvement culture across CommOps, positively promoting learning from a variety of internal and external sources, such as incidents on the HPC construction site, operating experience from EDF and external organisations, international bodies, and industry working groups. The position is essential for developing and implementing processes that capture and share valuable learning insights, enabling improvements during the commissioning phase and the transition towards operations.

The NNB Hinkley Point C (HPC) Project Learning & Improvement team is responsible for managing incidents and non-conformance occurrences on the construction site in line with nuclear site license conditions and UK legislation. Working closely with the NNB HPC Project Team, the CommOps Organisational Learning Specialist will oversee the development of operational processes, ensuring the smooth transition to operational processes. This role involves the collection, management, and analysis of learning data, enabling CommOps to continuously improve and implement changes effectively throughout the project’s lifecycle.

What you’ll be doing

As the CommOps Organisational Learning Specialist, you will champion learning and improvement across CommOps, developing and implementing operational organisational learning processes, such as local instructions and guidance. This role involves leveraging personal expertise, benchmarking best practices from UK and international organisations, and incorporating these insights into operational processes. As the Specialist, you will also provide expertise in developing operational IT systems for organisational learning, including specifying client requirements, conducting user acceptance testing, and creating user guidance documentation.

The role includes the collection, management, analysis, and dissemination of relevant learning data to support improvements during commissioning and the transition to operations. This requires independent working, a strong understanding of legal and procedural requirements, and the ability to provide data and advice to directors, managers, staff, and contractors. Additionally, the Specialist will produce key learning reports, facilitate governance meetings, manage the CommOps Organisational Learning SharePoint page, and engage with international bodies such as WANO and IAEA through visits, meetings, and communications.


Who you are

You’ll have experience in organisational learning and continual improvement processes, preferably within the nuclear sector and ideally in new build projects. Be a dynamic individual capable of positively promoting organisational learning and improvement across the CommOps Directorate. A solid understanding of regulated environments, especially within the nuclear sector, is required, alongside experience in data analysis, report preparation, and making actionable recommendations. Additionally, the role involves facilitating meetings with managers and staff to drive improvements and foster collaboration.

Demonstrate the ability to build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders and be a proactive team player who understands their role within the broader organisation. Personal values such as positive attitudes and behaviours are essential, as is the ability to work independently, plan, and be flexible in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with ISO 9001-compliant businesses will be beneficial, as will the ability to work effectively under such frameworks.
