The Role

Committee Operations Officers in the Select Committee Team are responsible for the day-to-day operational tasks of the committee to which they are assigned. Working as part of a small team, Committee Operations Officers are expected to make sure that operational arrangements are in place for the smooth operation of the committee in all aspects of its work, in what can often be a high-profile work environment.

Some of the responsibilities for this role include:

  • Manage the committee’s e-mail inbox, ensuring that messages are logged and responded to within agreed timescales. 
  • Liaison with committee staff, Members of Parliament, Specialist Advisers, witnesses and other stakeholders, as required in relation to administrative arrangements;
  • Provide operational support for public engagement events and visits, both in Westminster and outside;
  • Assist with organising fact-finding committee visits in the UK and abroad;
  • Assist with the operational arrangements for committee meetings
