Coastal Resilience & Climate Specialist - REMOTE/HYBRID

ICF is seeking an early to mid-career professional to provide technical assistance to Federal grantees in the area of coastal climate resilience. The successful candidate will have expertise in one or more of the following areas: resilience training and planning, social science, coastal management, environmental science, engagement, or geospatial analysis. The role involves applying adult learning principles, providing technical assistance, and supporting various coastal climate resilience projects at national, state, territorial, and local levels.

Important note:

  • Position has the potential to be hybrid or virtual (United States only), depending upon direction from the client.

  • Resume and/or cover letter must include coastal resiliency professional full-time work experience for consideration.

  • Climate LOB ICF offices: Arlington, VA (Crystal City), New York City, Salt Lake City, Honolulu, Boston, and Los Angeles.

Key Areas of Expertise:

  • Resilience Training and Planning: Apply adult learning principles in technical assistance on climate resilience topics, focusing on adaptation strategies, particularly nature-based solutions, and community planning for resilience.

  • Social Science: Utilize knowledge in human social and cultural processes, including economics and risk communication, to inform climate resilience strategies.

  • Coastal Management: Provide planning, policy, technical, scientific, and communications support for coastal projects with various partners.

  • Environmental Science: Offer support in environmental planning, policy, technical, regulatory, and information management related to ecosystem services and water quality.

  • Engagement: Use adult learning theory and other techniques to facilitate meaningful engagement, co-develop learning products, and deliver training on climate resilience topics.

  • Geospatial Analysis: Analyze geographic information about coasts, oceans, and Great Lakes and provide technical and analytical assistance for climate resilience issues.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s OR master’s degree in climate science, atmospheric science, Earth science, data science, environmental science, or a related field.

  • 6+ years (with Bachelors) OR 2+ years (with Masters) of full-time professional work experience in coastal resiliency including the following areas (one or more): resilience training and planning, social science, coastal management, environmental science, engagement, and/or geospatial analysis.

  • Experience in project management.

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:

$63,511.00 - $107,968.00
