Cloud Applications Architect

Position Type: Full-Time
Salary Range: $125k - $175k (depending on experience)
Work Location: This is a remote position (see on-site requirements below).
**On-Site Requirements: On-boarding will require 1-2 visits to Patuxent River, MD for candidates that are local to the area. Candidates out of state will be onboarded virtually. Training will be virtual and telework maximized/permitted to the greatest extent possible, however for local candidates, training/tasking may require on-site work a few hours per week. Future on-site/telework requirements/schedules may change as additional client direction is received.
Essential Functions:
- Provide System Engineering SME support to software development teams in standardizing microservices architectures by leveraging cloud native services and technologies.
- Develop migration strategies for on-prem to cloud migrations and provide recommendations to modernize legacy applications from monolithic to service-based architectures.
- Help architect, select, and acquire tooling and technologies for the DevSecOps software factory and cloud environments.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity and information assurance teams to define and enforce security standards, policies and requirements.
- Provide assistance with overseeing and defining architectures, writing and managing project/program architecture documentation.
- Promote a culture of security and continuous improvement.
- Experience with AWS storage services such as S3, EFS, EBS, FSX, Storage Gateway, etc.
- Experience with AWS database services, e.g.: RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, RedShift, and others.
- Experience with AWS Elastic Kubernetes Services (EKS).
- Participate in a highly functioning development teams utilizing agile methodologies combined with modern DevSecOps software practices and influence the way services are developed by providing best practices and architecture feedback.

Requirements
Required:
- Experience using Amazon Web Services (AWS), knowledge of Microsoft’s Azure, Google Cloud, or other major cloud computing services.
- Deep understanding of cloud computing technologies, applications, and trends.
