The Opportunity

The job purpose and scope of the Structural Heart Clinical Lead Manager (CLM) is an integrated part of clinical trials and commercial sales in collaboration with the Regional Sales Directors (RSD) and the US Area Vice President (AVP). This position will report into the US Area Vice President and will lead a team of Clinical Lead Specialist (CLS) in the US. In addition, the CLM will collaborate with the training department to be an extension of field preceptorship initiatives. The Clinical Lead Manager is responsible for directing US clinical trial case coverage, trial enrollment and commercial sales support as necessary to support customer base and growing the market share.  The CLS team lead by the CLM will be the clinical procedural experts to support start up trial and commercial accounts to include Abbott proctor delegate designation. Leadership oversight of quality, field clinical competency, ensuring excellent clinical outcomes, and commercial initiatives to achieve franchise goals. In summary the teams focused activities include trial support & outcome accountability, quality assurance initiatives, Abbott proctor delegate responsibilities, field training and commercial support.

This position may travel more than 50 - 75% depending on staffing and regional demands.

What You’ll Work On

  • Create process for alignment with RSD’s and CLS teams to achieve franchise sales goals.
  • Develop a safe learning environment and uncompromised positive team culture.
  • Create an entrepreneurial and supportive work environment by providing weekly team calls, discovery workshops, regional meetings, and individual discussions.
  • Recruit, onboard, coach for clinical performance and develop your direct reports. Ensure teaching of Abbott procedural best practices are understood and taught.
  • Foster a diverse workplace that enables all participants to contribute to their full potential in pursuit of organizational objectives and empower the team to assist in the development of the TAVI franchise. Assist individuals with quarterly goals, development plans and provide annual performance reviews.
  • Quarterly field travel with your team visiting customers while ensuring clinical competencies
  • Propose strategies and initiatives to improve the franchise customer focus and support
  • Build strategic cross functional partnerships to further franchise and organizational objectives specifically, training, R & D and clinical trial.
  • Demonstrates exceptional organizational and operational skills.
  • Monitor compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Lead your team in developing their skills to assist in train the trainer activities for proctoring, hosting case observations, boot camp support and assisting with developing consistency and expectations for the CLS to clinically mentor new hires from time of hire to solo case support.
  • Support in classroom training as faculty if needed.
  • Serving as leader for field clinical trial needs to include team understands trial site education of clinical trial protocol, inclusion, and exclusion criteria and supporting trial patient approval discussions for site trial investigators, PI’s, research coordinators and subject selection committee.
  • Lead establishing and strengthening the research partnership by building strong business relationships with research coordinators and physician PI’s.
  • Holds team accountable to driving regional clinical trial enrollment plans and initiatives to meet trial enrollment forecasts, identifying gaps and developing plans per site for proper engagement and enrollment commitment.
  • Providing documentation as required from customer for quality assurance initiatives.
  • Partnering with Regional Sales Directors to develop and establish regional strategy and deliver procedural growth; ensure a firm grasp of account activity, current and historical performance.
  • Communicating product, clinical and market data to appropriate personnel inform customers of the latest product, therapy and technology developments in the industry and engages in clinical, procedural, and technical discussions, and link data outcome to key messaging.
  • Develop a plan to ensure CLS team provides clinical value to the customer and viewed as an expert in TAVI therapy with contemporary relevance.
  • Supports training team in developing training materials for sophisticated procedures as CLS team proctors’ valve in valve and other challenging procedures.
  • Assist with case support and proctor planning and conflict resolution.
  • Cost center budget oversight and compliance.
  • Approval of direct report expense reports and address compliance issues as needed.
  • Complete vendor credentialing process for hospital access as required

 Required Qualifications  

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) or Arts (BA) college degree or equivalent clinical degree i.e., Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS), Certified Cardiology Technician, Registered nurse (RN) or Nurse Practitioner (NP), Transcatheter Cardiovascular Surgical/Scrub technician, Physician Assistant (PA).

Preferred Qualifications  

  • Clinical Sales Specialist Experience Level preferred:
    • Clinical Sales Specialist, Level 2: 6 years related clinical work experience required. Strong clinical orientation, experience with products for use in interventional cardiology, cardiac surgery, endovascular, TEVAR, EVAR, or TCAR.  Familiarity with echo, CT, fluoro imaging modalities, also strongly preferred OR 100+ TAVI case experience.  TAVI experience strongly preferred.
    • Clinical Sales Specialist, Level 3: 9 years related clinical work experience required. Strong clinical orientation, experience with products for use in interventional cardiology, cardiac surgery, endovascular, TEVAR, EVAR or TCAR.  Familiarity with echo, CT, fluoro imaging modalities, also strongly preferred OR 300+ TAVI case experience.  TAVI experience strongly preferred

The base pay for this position is

$97,300.00 – $194,700.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
