What will you be doing?

The Client Insights Principal is a pivotal role within both our company and client organizations. In this position, you will generate impactful insights for companies renowned for their innovative products and prominent marketing campaigns, guiding clients through processes that ensure their sustained success.

In this role, you will lead a high-performance team in leveraging Circana’s tools to address a wide array of critical marketing challenges, including share performance, new product launches, line extensions, consumer behavior, trade spending, pricing, and retail execution.

As a passionate advocate for the client, the Client Insights Principal advances solutions that foster the client’s long-term business growth. While achieving revenue targets is essential, success is equally defined by creating indispensable, long-term, solution-oriented consultative partnerships.

Job Responsibilities:

As a Client Insights Principal, you will leverage data and strong analytic capabilities to uncover impactful insights, informing business strategies and actions that drive client performance. Guiding clients through essential processes for their continued success, you will promote, develop, and deliver analytics-based syndicated and custom business solutions in partnership with HQ subject matter experts. While foundational systems are in place, you will determine when and how to customize solutions to address unique client business issues and recommend long-term changes to methodology and approach.

You will have access to Circana’s unparalleled Liquid Data platform and an ever-expanding ecosystem of data, the world’s largest set of data related to household-level consumer behavior. This includes proprietary access to POS, FSP, Rentrak, Household Panel, Consumption, Food Service, and Experian data assets. As a Client Insights Principal, you will lead in developing and utilizing Circana's tools to address a broad spectrum of key marketing issues such as share performance, new product launches, line extensions, consumer behavior, trade spending, pricing, and retail execution.

Your activities will vary, encompassing industry thought leadership, business solutions definition, business development, project management, cross-functional team leadership, problem-solving, and innovation. As clients increasingly adopt our business solutions, you will work seamlessly at all levels up to practice leadership, acting as a liaison and customer advocate with Circana's Product Management, Strategic Analytics, Consumer & Shopper, Media Solutions, In-store Solutions, and Technology teams.

This leader oversees a team of 14, with focus across the client’s full product portfolio through the support of and partnership with their Brand and Consumer Insights teams. This role will also be leading innovation insights for the client, both close-in as well as evaluating expansion and new platform opportunities. As client investment grows the team may grow accordingly to include resources that can support business insights and perspectives and custom solution development.

This is a Hybrid role with on-site requirements at the client office in Chicago, IL, 3 days per week. 

Requirements

  • Experience: 10+ years in business, with a strong understanding of manufacturer/retailer issues.

    • Background: Experience in one or more of the following environments:
      • Retail (any channel)
      • Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG)
      • Brokerage
    • Syndicated Data: Experience with solutions like Circana/IRI Unify+.
  • Skills:

    • Client Relations: Ability to develop and execute strategies and create business proposals with cross-functional teams.
    • C-Level Engagement: Experience engaging with C-level executives on core CPG issues (e.g., pricing, promotion effectiveness, category management, product development).
    • Perspective: Ability to maintain both manufacturer and retailer perspectives and understand their implications.
    • Innovation: Proven track record of creating and leveraging innovative solutions.
  • Management:

    • General Management: Experience with P&L responsibility and driving revenue and profit growth.
    • Leadership: Demonstrated leadership of direct reports or complex project teams.
    • Business Insights: Ability to assess complex client issues and identify root causes.
  • Communication:

    • Executive Presence: Impactful executive presence.
    • Vision Translation: Ability to translate stakeholder vision into actionable solutions.
    • Technical Communication: Ability to convey technical content and data analytics clearly to all audiences.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related field.

The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.  An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs. The salary range for this role is $155,000 - $220,000.

This job is also eligible for bonus pay.
