Technology Aspect
To establish a clear duty of care, Stellar Virtual and its affiliates require all employees to cover the costs associated with acquiring and providing the equipment (i.e., computers, internet service, telephone, home office setup, etc.) associated with virtual employment. Based on your position, you may be designated a company-issued device to use throughout your duration of employment.


Position Overview

As a Certified Substitute Teacher with Grades 9-12 (Secondary) division of Stellar Virtual’s Texas-based online schools, you will play a vital role in ensuring continuity in our virtual learning environment when regular instructors are unavailable. This position will deliver engaging and effective online instruction, follow established lesson plans, and maintain a positive and supportive virtual classroom atmosphere. 


Note: This position is for the current school year, 2024-2025. Future hiring efforts for 2025-2026 will be posted separately when those roles are available.


Essential Position Functions

  • Step in as a substitute instructor for virtual classes when regular teachers are absent.

  • Review and follow provided lesson plans, to ensure a smooth continuation of learning.

  • Deliver live or pre-recorded virtual lessons using the designated platform and tools.

  • Provide clear instructions, explanations, and feedback to students in a supportive manner.

  • Facilitate class discussions, answer questions, and encourage student engagement.

  • Manage virtual classroom behavior and maintain a positive and respectful learning environment.

  • Assess and evaluate student work, providing timely feedback to promote academic growth.

  • Collaborate with the Academic team to ensure seamless integration of substitute teaching.

  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff as needed.

  • Follow school policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of students.

Knowledge, Skills & Attributes

  • Familiarity with virtual learning platforms and online teaching tools.

  • Strong technology skills and the ability to navigate various educational software.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to engage with students effectively.

  • Adaptable and flexible to accommodate varying grade levels and subject areas.

  • Strong classroom management skills to maintain a positive and orderly environment.

  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting students' learning and growth.

Education & Certification

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field is required. 

  • A valid Texas Teaching Certificate in the State of Texas is required.

  • Previous teaching experience in a virtual or traditional classroom setting is preferred.
