Career Coach (Part/Time Contract) - Vancouver

We're looking for a skilled career coach who is comfortable to work part-time as a freelance contractor. The ideal candidate will be interested in flexible hours, be able to work part-time (average 10-15 hours per week). As a Career Coach at Circuit Stream, you will play a critical role in helping our students achieve their career goals. You will be responsible for delivering impactful career-based labs, workshops and 1-on-1 mentoring sessions and tracking the progress of our job seeker students as they develop their soft skills, implement job search strategies, apply for roles and succeed in their career goals. This position will be based remotely (work from home) but must be based in Pacific Time Zone, preferably in Vancouver, with a good understanding of local job market and trends.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide regular updates to the lead Career Coach in Calgary, sharing insights on individual student goals and progress to ensure a seamless job seeking experience
- Facilitate career-based labs, workshops, and lectures that support student success and job readiness in the tech industry
- Provide one-on-one coaching and mentorship to students, helping them identify their career aspirations, defining action plans, and unlocking their potential
- Build and maintain strong relationships with job-seeking students, providing regular check-ins and updates to support their job search progress
- Provide personalized job search support, including resume reviews, LinkedIn profile optimization, cover letter writing, portfolio guidance, mock interview preparation, salary negotiation strategies and other customized career support as needed.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, computer science, etc.
- 2-5 years of experience in career coaching, mentoring, or advising, preferably in a training or education institution environment
- Strong knowledge of in job search strategies and soft skills required for success
- A professional career coaching certification would be an asset
- An understanding of various subsets of the tech industry and related career paths would be an asset
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to build rapport with students and provide effective coaching and mentoring
- Comfortable with rate of $40 per hour and able to enter into a part-time freelance/contractor agreement
- Available in the evenings: Wednesdays for Career Labs and other evenings for Career 1:1 sessions, as well as occasional day time availability for Career 1:1s
