Schedule:

May 19-23 & 27-29: Full-time, In-Person Training
May 30, June 27, and August 11: In-Person Transfer SOAR 9am-1pm
June 3-6, 10-13, 17-20, 24-26, July 15-18, 22-25, August 1, 5-8: In-Person SOAR 8am-1pm
July 7-11, 28-31, 12-15: Virtual SOAR - hours variable and remote
Other hours and days available as requested. Students must be available all or most dates to be considered.

Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum:

Minimum: $16.00 Maximum: $16.00

Qualifications:

• Current degree-seeking College of Agriculture and Life Sciences undergraduate student
• At least one semester completed at time of application
• Continuing student status for Summer 2025 term or Fall 2025 semester
• Available for all training dates and SOAR sessions
• Ability to work in-person at a designated on-campus work location

Position Summary/Job Duties:

SOAR Peer Advisors work independently and collaboratively with CALS advising staff to provide new students with academic orientation and registration.
A training period will provide hired peer advisors with the information, procedures, and tools needed for this position.

During SOAR, peer advisors will:
• Welcome new students individually, in small groups, and via presentations
• Provide information and answer questions about CALS degree requirements and programs
• Assist students with course selection and use of enrollment tools (MyUW, Course Search & Enroll, Guide)
• Share information about co-curricular activities and student life at UW-Madison
• Additional daily tasks as needed to support advising operations

• Answering 3 essay questions
• Providing 2-3 references who can speak to your work in a professional or academic role (ex: work supervisor, professor, TA, or advisor). Please include the name, position, relationship to you, and email address for each reference.
• Optional: Resume emphasizing past work or volunteer experience, activities, and involvement is optional
• Letters or recommendation and/or cover letter are not required
