Job Summary

The Business Support Specialist position will support Gas System Operations within the Local Distribution Co Services – Gas System Operations Center (GSOC).  They will be responsible for checking pipeline supplier websites for Third Party Gas nominations, confirming those nominations against the PSEG internal Gastar application, insuring that the gas is allocated correctly within the system and communicating any changes to the control room and shift supervisor.  Ensuring all departmental reports and tasks are completed within specified timeframes to support the Gas System Operations Center.

Job Responsibilities

•    Monitor gas supplier pipelines and confirm legitimate third party gas deliveries to PSE&G Gas Transmission and Distribution system.
•    Utilize supplier Electronic Bulletin Board (EBB) to sync supply and delivery volumes on internal SCADA platform with our external third party supplier EBB.
•    Coordinate intraday changes between PSEG Internal Suppliers, third party gas schedulers, and GSOC Operators and Supervisors via email and phone.
•    Monitor delivered gas supplies for heat content and validate gas supplier measurements against internal readings for accuracy, and follow up with appropriate departments when measurement is outside established limits.
•    Proactively provide support to other team members to ensure all departmental reports and tasks are completed within specified timeframes.
 

Job Specific Qualifications

• BS/BA Degree or minimum of six years of professional experience
• Minimum of 3 year’s relevant experience in gas distribution, production or equivalent 
• Must possess excellent oral & written communication, follow written and verbal instructions, and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to interact effectively in a team environment
• Demonstrated ability to work well in emergencies and with individuals at all levels of the organization
• Demonstrated strong math and estimating skills, a basic understanding of the mechanics of pressure and control systems.
• Must have effective problem-solving and decision-making skills, strong planning and organizing skills, must be adaptable and results-oriented.
• Must possess and maintain a valid U. S. drivers’ license and a safe driving record. 
• Must pass a background check for North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) CIP (spell out) clearance 
• Subject to Department of Transportation’s (DOT) federally mandated random drug & alcohol testing regulations and maintain DOT Safety Sensitive Position requirements 
• Must possess strong computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office applications) and knowledge of PSEG systems (e.g.  Internet, Intranet, SAP, etc.)
• Must be able to work a 12-hour shift schedule, including weekends, and be willing to work overtime as required and perform on-call/emergency support, as needed

DESIRED:
• Experience in gas control and or gas scheduling work.
• Candidate demonstrates interest and ability to move up to Gas System Operator.
