Job Description
The Business Resilience Manager will lead and develop a team responsible for developing, implementing, documenting, and managing disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity in the event of a disaster. This role ensures the organization's ability to anticipate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from disruptive events, including disaster recovery (DR), business continuity planning (BCP), and business impact analyses (BIAs). This role will work closely with IT, security, and business units to identify risks, develop recovery strategies, and conduct regular testing while aligning these efforts with organizational goals.
The Business Resilience Manager will provide both strategic and technical leadership to ensure the organization's risk management framework is effective, proactive, and aligned with industry standards and best practices.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
- Provide strategic direction for enterprise resilience, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and priorities.
- Serve as the subject matter expert and advisor to senior leadership on resilience strategies, emerging risks, and program effectiveness.
- Drive a culture of resilience across the organization through proactive engagement and leadership.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead, mentor and coach resilience professionals, fostering a high-performing and collaborative environment.
Program Development & Execution:
- Develop, implement, and maintain enterprise-wide policies and frameworks for disaster recovery, business continuity, and operational resilience.
- Lead the design and execution of business impact analyses (BIAs) to identify and prioritize critical business processes and their dependencies.
- Integrate resilience efforts into IT infrastructure, application design, and overall organizational planning.
Risk Assessment & Management:
- Conduct regular risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities, prioritize risks, and recommend mitigation strategies.
Testing & Improvement:
- Organize and execute regular disaster recovery drills and business continuity tests to validate recovery strategies and ensure readiness.
- Monitor and review recovery strategies, recommending improvements based on emerging risks, technologies, and industry best practices.
Metrics, Documentation, & Compliance:
- Develop and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of resilience strategies and programs.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation of all resilience processes, plans, and policies, ensuring alignment with standards such as ISO 22301, NIST 800-34, and regulatory requirements.
Communication & Collaboration:
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to develop cohesive resilience strategies that include technology, business processes, and human factors.
- Provide training and support to staff on disaster recovery and business continuity procedures, ensuring a clear understanding of roles and responsibilities.
- Participate in customer and executive review sessions to discuss program effectiveness, test results, and improvement plans.
Incident Response:
- Act as a key member of the incident response team, supporting rapid recovery efforts during disasters or major IT disruptions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field is required
- At least 8 years of experience and demonstrated competency in enterprise resilience, business continuity, risk management, and/or disaster recovery planning and execution in a professional services environment
- Standards & Frameworks: Working knowledge of operational resilience standards such as ISO 22301, NIST 800-34, and regulatory requirements
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing operational resilience strategies, plans, and policies.
- Experience in program/project management, including the ability to plan, execute, and monitor complex projects with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Must have strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, applications, and data management.
- Familiarity with disaster recovery tools and technologies.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), and Disaster Recovery Institute International (DRII) certifications) are a plus.
Additional Information
RRD's current salary range for this role is $105,900 to $169,500 / year. The salary range may be adjusted based on the applicable geographic location of the hired employee, and the range may change in the future. At RRD, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions may vary based upon, but not limited to education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift and location. Depending on the role, in addition to base salary, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program.
