About the role

The Business Intelligence Analyst – Pricing and Promotions position is responsible for analyzing, developing, and maintaining pricing strategies and promotional programs across global markets, with an emphasis on North America and Latin America. This role leads data-driven initiatives to optimize pricing structures, evaluate promotion effectiveness, and ensure competitive market positioning. The position manages self-service business intelligence tools and collaborates with cross-functional teams to support data-informed decision-making throughout the organization. Essential functions include conducting comprehensive pricing analyses, developing promotional models, and maintaining business intelligence reporting systems while working closely with global sales teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pricing Analysis: 
    • Conduct comprehensive pricing analyses using data, SQL, and Excel 
    • Calculate and evaluate the cost of goods sold (COGS) based on manufacturing costs and supply chain adders 
    • Maintain pre-defined thresholds for contribution margin, volume-to-price ratio, and COGS as a percentage of price 
    • Research and analyze similar products sold by other CPG and direct sales organizations 
    • Stay informed about market trends and pricing strategies in the industry 
    • Develop data-driven price recommendations based on analysis findings 
    • Analyze competitor compensation plans and promotional strategies
  • Promotion Analysis: 
    • Collaborate with sales teams to understand promotion requirements for both product and business activity generating promotions 
    • Develop models to evaluate the profitability and potential impact of proposed promotions 
    • Create and maintain reporting systems for tracking promotion performance 
    • Lead post-promotion analysis and review sessions with sales teams to assess effectiveness 
    • Provide data-driven recommendations for future promotional strategies 
    • Analyze incentive trip and recognition program effectiveness 
    • Develop and maintain distributor retention models 
  • Reporting and Data Management: 
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date pricing and promotion databases 
    • Generate regular reports on pricing and promotion performance and trends 
    • Design and implement Tableau Cloud reports for global users 
    • Create intuitive dashboards for pattern and trend identification 
    • Educate and support global users in leveraging reports 
    • Develop distributor-facing analytics and reporting solutions 
    • Work closely with sales, marketing, finance, operations, and product teams 
    • Communicate pricing and promotion insights to stakeholders 
    • Partner with field leadership in direct selling organizations 
    • Support social selling and e-commerce integration initiatives 
  • Collaboration and Communication: 
    • Work closely with sales, marketing, finance, operations, and product teams to align pricing and promotion strategies with overall business objectives 
    • Communicate pricing and promotion insights and recommendations to stakeholders at various levels of the organization
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred in Business Analytics, Economics, Statistics, Information Systems, or related field 
  • 3-7 years of experience in pricing and promotion analysis 
  • Strong preference for candidates with direct selling/multi-level marketing industry experience 
  • Experience with commission structures and compensation plans specific to direct selling 
  • CPG industry experience is a plus 
Technical Skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and SQL 
  • Experience with data visualization tools, particularly Tableau Cloud 
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis and forecasting techniques 
  • Experience with Python or R for advanced statistical analysis 
  • Experience with cloud-based data warehousing solutions (e.g., Oracle, Snowflake, Amazon Redshift) 
  • Familiarity with predictive analytics 
Industry Specific Knowledge
  • Understanding of direct selling/MLM business models and compensation structures 
  • Knowledge of distributor behavior patterns and motivation factors 
  • Familiarity with compliance regulations in the direct selling industry 
  • Experience with global markets and international pricing strategies 
  • Understanding of rank advancement and qualification requirements 
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills
  • Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail 
  • Ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights 
  • Experience in developing pricing and promotion models and scenarios 
  • Experience in cohort analysis and customer lifetime value calculations 
  • Ability to develop and maintain distributor retention models 
  • Skills in promotional impact modeling specific to direct selling events 
  • Experience in analyzing distributor activity patterns and behaviors 
Communication and Interpersonal Skills 
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills 
  • Ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical audiences 
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills 
  • Capability to train and educate others on using self-service BI tools 
Other Qualifications 
  • Understanding of financial concepts related to pricing, promotions, and profitability
