About the role 

The Business Energy Saver Project Officer supports the delivery of a business resilience program across the Eastern Alliance for Greenhouse Action (EAGA) region, spanning the eastern suburbs. The project aims to assist businesses to build resilience by implementing energy efficiency actions to reduce emissions and lower operational costs. The project will drive the uptake of energy efficiency opportunities, whilst building relationships and an ongoing dialogue with businesses to capture other sustainability opportunities over time.

This is a part time temporary role working three days a week until 30 June 2026 based at Knox Civic Centre. The position will be employed by Knox City Council on behalf of all participating councils. Knox Council will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day performance of the position and related employment conditions. Whilst the position is based at Knox Council, the role will require a majority of time to be spent off-site, including at other council offices or working remotely visiting businesses in the participating Council regions. We support flexible working arrangements while ensuring operational needs of the role are met.

This is a Band 5 classified role, remuneration will be $78,036.84 - $90,793.94 (depending on experience) (pro-rata for part time) plus superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee.

What you will bring to this role  

The key selection criteria for this role are: 

  • Experience in business and face to face engagement, including sensitivity to community needs, encouraging a sense of pride and belonging and promoting a positive image of Council both in character and services provided.
  • Demonstrated capacity to build and maintain strong relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders across all levels of an organisation.
  • A high level of self-motivation, initiative, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Highly developed level of written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing time, setting priorities, developing project schedules, achieving goals and meeting deadlines.
  • Familiarity with energy efficiency and sustainability opportunities desirable.
