Energy Department

The Energy Team is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and delivering qualified information regarding sites to various internal Vantage teams. Energy Team is responsible for new market diligence, initial power conversations, power agreements, utility relationships, power acquisition, budget, schedule, and creative problem solving for all new and existing projects. The Energy Team will work continuously from new project conception to operations, providing critical high level touch points with our Utility Partners. Collaboration with all internal and external stakeholders is core to the Energy Team’s role in achieving the below guiding goals:

Guiding Goals: Deliver qualified energy related information that allows Vantage to efficiently build and operate sites in line with our design requirements, leasing goals, schedule requirements and budget goals. 

This shall include the following:

Identifying and Securing Power – Understand power requirements, market availability, and work with utilities and industry partners to efficiently plan and secure delivered power to all sites.

Preliminary site review – High level evaluation of sites with actionable feedback for site selection team. 

Analyze sites in diligence – Understand site specific risks, issues, concerns and development strategies to mitigate risks for qualified sites.

Lead design developments – Understand Vantage specific energy requirements and specific leasing requirements to assist design development teams to hand off to construction teams that meet our power requirements, schedule and budget goals.

Obtain necessary approvals – Understand specific project approvals required, develop plans, schedules and lead time to obtain the required approvals.

Position Overview

This role can be based in any of our US locations: Denver, CO; Phoenix, AZ; Santa Clara, CA; or Ashburn, VA or remote. #LI-remote #LI-SD1

Vantage is seeking a highly organized, self-starting, and proactive Business Development Coordinator to drive core project management and coordination efforts across a wide spectrum of projects within the Energy Team. This person will provide a key role in identifying and progressing data center developments from inception to operations.

This position will assist Utility Business Development Managers with site due diligence, utility agreements, , budget, and schedule for all new major projects. The position will also play key role in supporting power planning, rate research, and utility coordination.

Constant and effective communication with vendor partners and many internal departments is critical including: finance, policy, construction, legal, market development, engineering, operations, and more. Essential Job Functions

Daily Tasks:

  • Submittal management, change order management, meeting coordination, administration of project reports, contracts, site selection support, budgeting support, participation in design development, and transition of close-out documentation to construction. 

Initiative & Problem Solving:

  • Take initiative on all assigned tasks and responsibilities, asking questions, driving solutions, and following up regularly.

Vendor Management:

  • Assist with onboarding vendors, managing contracts, processing purchase orders, tracking invoices, and ensuring project closeout documentation is completed.

Project Documentation & Administration:

  • Manage and maintain project documentation, reports, budgets, schedules, and presentations to ensure timely completion and accuracy.

Project Support:

  • Support the Energy Team with all project-related tasks, including site due diligence, utility agreements, power planning, rate research, and utility coordination.

Utility Rate Research:

  • Conduct independent research to track utility rates and other relevant information in support of the Energy Team’s power planning efforts.

Risk Identification & Mitigation:

  • Track project progress and identify risks, documenting and assisting in the mitigation process to ensure successful project outcomes.

Stakeholder Communication:

  • Communicate regularly and effectively with project stakeholders, including clients, vendors, and internal teams from departments such as finance, policy, construction, legal, market development, engineering, and operations.

Additional Duties:

  • Handle additional duties as assigned by Management.

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management or a related field or equivalent experience preferred.

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in project coordination, business development, or a similar role, ideally within the energy or utility sector.

Skills:

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively coordinate between internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and project management software.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in vendor management, budgeting, and scheduling is highly preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and proactive problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with a collaborative team-oriented mindset.
  • Eager to learn, adaptable, and willing to take on new challenges.
  • Travel required is expected to be up to 5% but may increase over time as the business evolves.

Additional Details

  • Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000 Base + Bonus (this range is based on Colorado market data and may vary in other locations)

  • Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including your qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
