Department Overview:

Madison School & Community Recreation (MSCR) is Madison’s public recreation provider. MSCR offers a wide variety of athletic, recreational, arts and enrichment activities and classes for all ages in an accessible, inclusive setting. Programs include swimming instruction, MSCR on the Move, arts & enrichment classes, youth summer camps, sports camps & clinics, adult & 50+ fitness, adult sport leagues including pickleball, softball and tennis, and a wide variety of outdoor pursuits including paddling sports, pontoon trips, camping, orienteering and challenge courses.

As a department of the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD), MSCR also provides afterschool enrichment activities, clubs and sports as well as summer programming in Madison elementary, middle and high schools, Allied Learning Center and Meadowood Neighborhood Center. Afterschool clubs and sports include: arts & enrichment, homework/academic clubs, drama, dance, skiing, soccer, basketball, volleyball, cross country and much more!

During the school year, MSCR offers Afterschool and Enrichment Programs at 15 MMSD Schools. Many of these sites have been awarded Community Learning Center (CLC) grants through the Federal Government. These programs offer curriculum to help support the students who need extra support in math and/or literacy.

Tuesday 8:45am - 2:15pm, Thursday 8:45am - 2:15pm, Tuesday - Thursday 4pm - 8:15pm

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
Over 18 years of age with a High School or HSED/GED.
Experience working, volunteering or participating in neighborhood centers and community centers.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Computer knowledge and proficiency Experience working with or within marginalized communities on social justice initiatives, services, programs and directives.
Supportive of MSCR mission.
Ability to move/lift/carry up to 35lbs.
First Aid/CPR Certification (we can get you certified if you are not).

Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of Federal, State and local resources that serve low to moderate income families.
Bilingual (Spanish) desired, but not required.
Some college.
Familiar with MSCR mission and programs.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Job Description & Duties:
Secure, open and close MSCR-Meadowood Neighborhood Center building.
Problem solve, provide customer service and support to participants, instructors and staff.
Manage room bookings and set up requests for tables & chairs per facility user requests.
Understand, implement and communicate MSCR Mission, programming, and policies.
Assist in supervising building in absence of Center Director and Assistant Center Director.
Ensure program and building safety.
Handle on-site emergencies and facilitate problem-solving.
Provide excellent customer service to participants.
Lead site tours.
Provide support to MSCR staff and instructors.
Communicate regularly with Center Director and Assistant Center Director.
Contribute positively to the work environment.
Utilize registration systems to enter data and provide program information to participants and the community.
Attend trainings and staff meetings.
Other duties as assigned.

Work Location: Meadowood Neighborhood Center, 5740 Raymond Road.
