About the Role: 

Founded in 2019, Brightline is the leading comprehensive behavioral health platform for families. As a part of California’s Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI),  Brightlife Kids by Brightline aims to reimagine behavioral health care for California’s children and families by promoting social and emotional well-being, preventing behavioral health challenges, and providing equitable, personalized, timely, and accessible services for families with children 12 and under.

Brightline is excited to offer a unique internship opportunity for individuals passionate about community engagement and mental health. Interns will support our Community Engagement Leads (CELs) in promoting social and emotional well-being among children and families as a part of the BrightLife Kids program. This internship is ideal for those seeking hands-on experience in behavioral health education, community outreach, and event participation.

  • Duration: 6 months

  • Hours: Must be able to commit to 8 hours per week minimum (weekly hours may vary)

  • Paid Hourly: $16/hr

  • Academic Credit: We may be able to work with universities to provide class credit for student internships depending on the requirements for class credits

Why You Are Excited About Us: 

  • Event Participation: Represent Brightline at community events, school fairs, and other gatherings. Engage with parents to educate them about Brightline’s services and the importance of child mental well-being.

  • Health Education: Provide informative materials and conduct engaging discussions to raise awareness about child behavioral health.

  • Community Outreach and Engagement: Assist in initiating outreach efforts via email, phone calls, and in-person meetings to establish connections with stakeholders in schools, faith-based organizations, and community groups.

  • Support CELs: Work alongside CELs to help develop and implement outreach and marketing strategies tailored to specific communities.

  • Data Collection: Track engagement metrics and report insights to help improve outreach strategies. 

  • Mentorship: Receive guidance and mentorship from experienced Brightline employees, gaining valuable insights into community health and engagement strategies.

  • Skill Development: Enhance your communication, public speaking, and event planning skills. Learn to navigate public health systems and build relationships within diverse communities.

  • Professional Experience: Gain hands-on experience in the field of mental and behavioral health, making a tangible impact on community well-being.

  • Networking: Build connections with professionals and organizations dedicated to improving child mental health.

  • Are committed to a minimum of 8 hours per week to community events 

  • Perform all required tasks and functions with diligence and professionalism.

  • Attend supervision, intern, and other meetings as requested and scheduled.

  • Must demonstrate relevance to career development and/or higher educational goals (life or work experience may be substituted for higher education).

  • Are a strong communicator (both interpersonal and with supervisors).

  • Have strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Have a strong sense of personal initiative and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Are proficient with computer systems and software, including online research tools.

  • Are experienced working with multicultural populations.

  • Are energetic and friendly demeanor.

  • Enjoy working with people and is comfortable speaking in front of groups.

  • Are knowledgeable of pediatric mental health, public or community health, and community needs is a plus.

  • Are 18 years or older and have completed high school or equivalent

  • Have access to reliable transportation to commute to in-person events

  • Are able to meet the physical requirements of this role: This role requires the ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds, stand and walk for extended periods, and perform tasks that may involve bending, kneeling, or reaching overhead. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.

  • Bonus: Are proficient in another language (e.g., Spanish).
