A Brief Overview

Operations Supervisor oversees branch operations in conjunction with Branch Managers and Bank Officers. Manages multiple areas of the bank including, but not limited to Teller Line, New Accounts, Loans and Bookkeeping. An Operations Supervisor is responsible for answering questions, developing and training staff, thorough product knowledge skill of staff, and maintaining customer relationships. Other duties are included but not limited to resolving problems of staff and customer through quality customer service and performing other branch duties and projects as assigned for the branch and the market. Operations supervisors promote the bank by providing excellent customer service, identifying customer needs and providing solutions while upholding high standards.

What you will do

  • Provide exemplary customer service in all situations
  • Review and understand daily and weekly reports such as the demand and saving exception reports
  • Understand collection procedures and abide by the collections manual
  • Approve check cashing transactions up to approved limit
  • Identify and reduce fraudulent transactions and activity
  • Comprehend and counsel others on relevant laws and regulations
  • Provide support and back-up to all operational departments as needed
  • Demonstrate expertise in following the unique procedures for each transaction type
  • Assist Operations Supervisor in overseeing a department, approving transactions and making exceptions (the Assistant Supervisor may oversee a department independently)
  • Ensures a positive and engaging experience for customers and employees
  • Resolves customer issues and complaints
  • Motivates and leads a team to achieve sales, service and performance goals set forth by the company
  • Manages others in adherence to expected performance standards and works well in a team-oriented environment
  • Oversees the accuracy and adherence to policies and procedures of the department including applicable banking regulations
  • Actively trains and develops knowledge and leadership abilities of the department and other branch personnel
  • Utilizes Lead Branch Development Guide to develop newly promoted Lead personnel within recommended timeframes
  • Supports the Assistant Branch Manager and/or Branch Manager in his or her duties/oversight
  • Introducing new customers to FirstBank
  • Developing and maintaining customer relationships
  • Oversees operational processes of multiple departments (or single, large departments) and approves transactions and exceptions
  • Ensures operations are compliant with regulations and internal policies
  • Leads in-branch customer engagement and development to achieve product sales and growth
  • Oversees employee development including operations training, product knowledge, customer service, etc
  • Opens and closes the bank, consistent with security policy
  • Operates the branch in absence of officers and branch managers
  • Ensures proper branch coverage and scheduling
  • Prepares and conducts employee reviews (including disciplinary notices)
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned
  • Understands and comply with all provisions of the Safety in the Workplace policy

Supervises the work of a group of direct reports. Responsible for performance management and evaluations; hiring and staffing, scheduling. Enforces policies and procedures. Directs day-to-day work of employees, through supervision of lead staff or directly. Supervisory responsibilities may be limited to a specific shift or a portion of a function, facility or location. May assist with training and payroll. Coaches and develops staff.

Minimum Requirements

  • Typically requires a minimum of 1-2 years of related functional experience and prior supervisory experience

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience as a Lead Representative or Assistant Supervisor
  • Comfortable in both a teller and new accounts environment
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Personnel management experience

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Frequently remains stationary throughout a typical business day
  • Frequently operates a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
  • Occasionally moves about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, and other rooms
  • Occasionally positions self to access drawers and shelves of various heights
  • Frequently reaches for and handles paperwork and files
  • Constantly communicates with customers, coworkers, and management in-person and on the phone
  • Must be able to exchange accurate information
  • FirstBank does not currently offer fully remote positions, except as required by law. The actual number of in-office days that may be required will vary by business unit, role, and business need.



Salary Range

$24.50 Per Hour to $40.55 Per Hour
