We are seeking a highly motivated and capable bioinformatics scientist with experience and interest in translational cancer research and clinical genomics. This position requires experience with scientific programming, relational data systems, algorithms development, and statistical modeling. Top candidates will also have experience deploying bioinformatics code within a clinical setting.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Contribute to designing diagnostic software systems for Tempus medical devices
- Interface with biopharma partners and develop plans for investigational diagnostic testing
- Manage companion diagnostic test design and development in concert with sponsors
- Prepare and coordinate software system technical design and requirements analysis
- Collaborate with scientists and clinicians to design diagnostic tests in a regulated environment
- Communicate with outside scientific teams as well as product and bioinformatics leadership
- Produce high quality and detailed documentation for all projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D./M.S. in quantitative scientific discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
- Computational skills using Python, R, and/or Bioconductor.
Ideal candidates will possess:
- Experience in cancer genetics
- Experience working with next-generation sequencing data
- Experience with supporting analytical studies
- Experience with software development and verification process
- Experience in regulated medical device development
- Experience using cloud systems such as AWS, Azure, and/or GCP
- Self-driven and works well in interdisciplinary teams
- Experience with communicating insights and presenting concepts to a diverse audience

The expected salary range below is applicable if the role is performed from [Illinois] and may vary for other locations. Actual salary may vary based on qualifications and experience. Tempus offers a full range of benefits, which may include incentive compensation, restricted stock units, medical and other benefits, depending on the position.
