The Benefits Accounting Specialist is part of a large long-term contract with the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF), the agency that manages foster care and other child welfare activities in the Commonwealth. The Benefits Accounting Specialist will manage Social Security benefit accounts and reporting for a caseload of child beneficiaries who are in DCF care.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform all account management & reconciliation activities accurately and timely.
  • Complete all federal and state reports and requests accurately and timely.
  • Ensure that accounts are closed and funds returned to the Social Security Administration in a timely fashion.
  • Assist with processing weekly mail, including collection from P.O. box, preliminary review, and scanning files to be uploaded or distributed.
  • Provide clear and timely communication to client representatives and affiliate agencies.
  • Monitor performance standard measurements for benefits accounting activities.
  • Participate in state and federal audit inquiries.
  • Maintain positive working relationship with the client and colleagues.
  • Foster information sharing and open discussion among colleagues.

Required Skills

  • Familiarity with general accounting principles.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities to meet deadlines.
  • Detail orientation.
  • Ability to understand and interpret federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Excellent working knowledge of Excel and familiarity with Access/database software is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in related field.
  • 0-2 years of relevant work experience.

Working Conditions

  • This is a hybrid position with an in office presence in our Boston office
  • approximately one day per week.

We are accepting applications on an ongoing basis until filled. 

PCG provides the following reasonable range of compensation for this role: $41,700-54,000 and a potential discretionary bonus of up to 10 %

Compensation for roles at Public Consulting Group varies depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience.  As required by applicable law, PCG provides the following reasonable range of compensation for this role below. In addition, PCG provides a range of benefits for this role, including medical and dental care benefits, 401k, PTO, parental leave, bereavement leave.
