OVERVIEW


The Refugee Youth Resource Center was established to improve outcomes for refugee children/youth and their families through providing education, resources, and support to refugee-serving agencies. The Behavioral Health Subject Matter Expert will provide guidance and expertise in their field of practice, assist in the development of resources, and provide training and technical assistance (TTA). This position will also provide direct crisis intervention and case consultation services in collaboration with other subject matter experts. This position reports to the Program Manager of the Refugee Youth Resource Center. Individuals with lived experience are highly encouraged to apply.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and deliver comprehensive trainings to refugee-serving agencies to improve outcomes for refugee children and youth; 

  • Provide technical assistance to organizations to enhance their responses to the behavioral health needs of refugee children and youth; 

  • Consult on high-needs cases and in some instances provide direct crisis intervention services; 

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify TTA needs and tailor programs to meet specific requirements;

  • Stay current with the latest research, trends, and best practices related to refugee children and youth behavioral health;

  • Create and update TTA materials, manuals, and resources;

  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to measure the effectiveness of TTA;

  • Offer expert advice and guidance on organizational policies and procedures;

  • Participate in conferences, workshops, and other professional development opportunities to represent the organization and share expertise;

  • Maintain relationships with external organizations/subject matter experts for technical assistance and collaboration;

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Masters of Social Work or an equivalent advanced degree in a behavioral health; preferred candidates will possess clinical or advanced practice licensure in their field of discipline (ex. LCSW, LPC, LMFT). 

  • At least five years’ experience providing behavioral health services to culturally diverse populations; 

  • Experience working with refugee serving programs, child welfare and/or working with foreign-born children and families;

  • Experience providing training and technical assistance;

  • Excellent organizational, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills;

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office products and remote learning technologies; 

  • Ability to prioritize duties and multi-task in a fast-paced environment;

  • Ability to work well independently and in a team;

  • Fluency in other languages highly preferred;

  • Comfortable working remotely, working with an interdisciplinary team communicating and collaboratively primarily online; candidate must have an appropriate workspace to complete work, phone calls, and video conferencing;

  • Willing to travel a few times annually; and

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS 

 

  • Satisfactory completion of USCRI’s Orientation and Training;
  • Satisfactory completion of funder required trainings upon hire and on an annual basis; and
  • Complete additional training as identified by supervisor or Human Resources.

  

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

  • Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity;
  • Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands;
  • Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying; and
  • Quantitative/mathematical ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, standard measurements).
