The Role at a Glance

As an AVP, Annuity and RPS (Retirement Planning Services) Strategic Modeling, you will lead a team to perform actuarial modeling efforts related to a wide range of strategic and special projects. The focus of this team is to deliver value-adding, actionable model insights, identifying strategies and management levers to improve profitability and reduce risk.

This position will also provide the opportunity to positively impact decision making by refining the models used for long-term strategic plan. The individual will work with other teams to improve the understanding of the true shape of inforce capital generation to uncover key business insight for management.

What you'll be doing

• Lead a team to provide technical modeling expertise on cross-functional strategic efforts that involve inforce actuarial models covering the Annuity and RPS business segments.
• Deliver research, modeling, and analysis for various strategic projects that directly impact capital management and business strategy in the Annuity and RPS space.
• Provide project leadership on initiatives that involve multiple functional areas and external partners such as consultants, auditors, or reinsurers.
• Lead a team to develop, improve, and/or maintain model structures related to reinsurance transactions, hedging and asset strategies, and other complex management strategies.
• Engage with model developers and other stakeholders to communicate model specifications and changes required to adapt to updates in product, regulatory, or reinsurance.
• Review financial projection model used for long-term strategic plan, identify & research issues in models, and provide solutions.
• Establish effective working relationships and trust with key stakeholders, such as the Valuation, Capital, Market Risk Management, M&A, and Reinsurance teams.
• Act as a subject matter expert on Annuity product mechanics, modeling methodologies, and materiality and appropriateness of any modeling simplifications.

What we’re looking for

• 10+ years of experience in actuarial science that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities of this position, including 3+ years of managerial, supervisory, and/or demonstrated leadership experience
